Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jun 25, 2013 11:20 am Hello all, We are going to build our 1st home so bit new in this field. We were shopping around for builders and came across LIH. They seem reasonable and they are happy to change designs according to our need but I'm not sure how good builders they are. when I met their sales rep she seems over promising everything but was reluctant to put that in writing. So really worried that If they will deliver they are promising or not. Please advise your experience if you already built or building with them. Re: Anyone Building with Long Island homes? 4Jul 30, 2013 9:23 pm We built with Long island just over a year ago. We had no problems with the build. Our house was built in 5 months. Good workmanship. Very professional from start to finish with excellent customer service. A very pleasant experience. Re: Anyone Building with Long Island homes? 5Sep 13, 2013 12:05 pm Angel therapy , last year you post all experiences with Granvue builder not LIH. Why Did you build your house with Granvue ? Not LOngislandhome ? LIH is very good ? Ha ha some mistakes ? Re: Anyone Building with Long Island homes? 7Sep 29, 2013 8:01 am Oz_melon Angel therapy , last year you post all experiences with Granvue builder not LIH. Why Did you build your house with Granvue ? Not LOngislandhome ? LIH is very good ? Ha ha some mistakes ? Hi check your facts please. My posts are this year with Granvue. I didn't join homeone forum last year so i never posted anything with my build while building with L.I.H However you can read my review on them. Even though we signed up during early stages of their business it was highly professional. I am glad to say that we still have a great repor with the team dispite me choosing to build with someone else... I have built 3 timeds so i can say i qualify to comment on my experiences. I'm sorry to hear you didn't have a good experience. I can understand that. But i had no issues with them what so ever and i regret not building with them again somtimes we make rash decissions. If i could turn back time i would. I know i would deffinately build with long island again. Now i know the differences having experienced both builders. not everything will go smoothly. I am sure just like me in my current experience you will learn to put it all behind you and love your home once your in there. All the best. The time it takes to build a home is dependant on many factors. Somethings are not in the controll of the builder, delays are expected. Re: Anyone Building with Long Island homes? 8Oct 10, 2013 10:10 am Hi Angletherapy, Thank for your replying. I am an investor as well. I built more than 3 house in west melbourne with several builder. As an investor, I must find out which builder is good price, good plan, good time frame... I got serious mistake when I deal with LIH. They are super slow, I lost time, money, ... all affect to my healthy. I will never recommend LIH with anyone. Sorry Angeltherapy, I saw your building thread with Granvue last year, you show many pictures for building stage. now I couldn't find out. Anyone deleted your thread ? Re: Anyone Building with Long Island homes? 9Oct 11, 2013 7:04 pm Hi oz. I deleted my earlier threads as it was becomming addictive checking if i needed to reply to anyone. With a littleone its difficult to concentrate when your trying to respond. lol. Again the ones you see on granvue are this year. See my pics. This is my current build it is coming along fine. Time frame is great. Started end of june and we are about 5 weeks away if all goes wel.i never had a thread with LIH. Again i had no issue with time lines had it built in 5 months. who was your supervisor? And where did u build.? It makes a huge difference. Especially in an area where its high growth and there is a demand. Delays are expected. Im not a building expert however i do talk to tradies and ask why there would be delays. If it helps they say that they dont wait until a builder is ready for them they have other jobs they do as well in between. Sometimes they are available and the stock isnt so they go and start another job. So many reasons as to what can cause delays. It has a ripple effect if one part of the build gets delayed then so is the next that is suppose to be scheduled. I'm sure the builders want to finish the houses in the least time without rushing it. Are you happy with the outcome in the end thats important. I hear your frustrations and you have every right to feel the way you do. Re: Anyone Building with Long Island homes? 10Oct 23, 2013 5:39 pm Hi Oz, I know your feeling. I was stupid, as believing Product review Web where a lot of good reviews for LIH. They can't complete my house on time as in timeframe in contract (8 months) just for 19 sq house. Their tradies are not high skill, they are very bad. Many mistakes with my house now. I am angry with myselft ! Please stay away LongIsland Homes!!! Re: Anyone Building with Long Island homes? 11Oct 24, 2013 7:52 pm Hi Kim LIH Sorry but i have to ask is LIH a coincidence that you would use the abreviation for long island homes or you used it as a reference. I'm sorry to hear you didnt have a good experienc. Who was your supervisor and where did you build? You can Pm me. I would realy appreciate it if you could tell me more about what made you so angry. Its not a nice feeling especially when you should be so excited about a home. I woukd like to know more about your experience because we are planning to build with them again within the year. I would like to know what sort of issues you had so i can make a decision. It has been a while and because we didnt have issues i thought i would go back. Maybe they changed their tradies because the ones we had were great. Very experienced hardly any faults. Did you have an independant inspection done? I would like it if yshare DIY, Home Maintenance & Repair Are you going to have the frame exposed or are you cladding it with something. Usually if you are making an exposed frame you would use solid legs around 100x100 or… 3 6579 Wish you all the best. Once you signed the contract, they will find millions excuses to charge you. And have seen their sites unfinished for a long time. 4 24806 Congratulations! Nice to put that to bed before christmas, now you can relax 3 7133 |
