Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jun 23, 2013 6:20 pm Hi there, I'm new to this forum and are currently building our first home our budget doesn't stretch to stone but figure diamond gloss is the next best thing I loooove the colours in particular stipple seal and stipple smoke. Any one got these and would like to share any pics? Would love to see anyone's and everyone's diamond gloss any help will be greatly appreciated, picking colours is proving to be rather frustrating Re: Show me your diamond gloss benchtops 2Jun 23, 2013 7:06 pm Hi Cracky, I hate to burst your bubble, but I'm pretty sure most builders don't want you to use diamond gloss for benches as it scratches and loses its shine easily. Our kitchen place mentioned that we'd have to sign a waiver if we chose it. Feel free to follow our build! viewtopic.php?f=31&t=59958 Re: Show me your diamond gloss benchtops 3Jun 23, 2013 7:39 pm Hi Cracky, Welcome to the forum! Congrats on your build as well. When I first built back in 2004, Stone benchtops weren't even an a selections option! So not wanting a dull natural laminate for the bench, I opted for the Laminex DiamondGloss. My only other choice really! It looked great, held up fantastically to everyday use and when I sold up 3 and a half years later, it still looked as good and as shiny as the day it was installed! I went with a black bench called Starlight, unfortunately no pics as it was so Long ago and I don't live there anymore, but the couple that bought the house off me, ended up being friends of friends (small world) and when I saw the house again in 2011, it still looked good Just don't go gouging them with sharp objects, (obviously) cutting stuff directly on the benchtops or using a caustic cleaning substance or scourer type cloth. Warm soapy water and a soft dishcloth is all you need. All the best! We would love stone but unfortunately can't afford it but our builder and cabinet maker both highly recommend diamond gloss as they say it looks the closest out of the laminates to stone and they say is quite tough. They both say they prefer it over the Matt laminate. I'm pedantic of my kitchen, so ill be very careful with it. I was so glad to read your post deluxes. It defiantly helps to hear about people that are happy with diamond gloss. I feel more confident in the product now since you said your old place laminate still looks great it is a small world, especially when friends of friends buy your house and thanks for the tip on not using any caustic cleaning product as I love my cleaning products, ill only use hot soapy water Re: Show me your diamond gloss benchtops 6Jun 23, 2013 8:07 pm Ohhh I can't wait to go see display homes. I hope to go soon and visit a few but unfortunately I live 3 hours away from the nearest display homes in adelaide. I'm hoping that they all don't just have stone as their bench tops too Re: Show me your diamond gloss benchtops 7Jun 23, 2013 8:10 pm We used diamond gloss in our pool house. Two years on it still looks great - even after tradies using it as a doing ground for months on end LOL. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Some things are worth waiting for. I've got 2 kids that I'm sure will put it to the test it haha it's good to hear people are happy with it Re: Show me your diamond gloss benchtops 10Jun 23, 2013 9:41 pm This is a picture of our kitchen in our old house. It was a gloss laminex, can't remember the colours. I could not fault the product. In our new house we will have laminex pure mineralstone gloss in some rooms. I have having stipple steel as feature doors to the linen in the laundry

I like my cleaning products too! I did use a standard spray and wipe on it, but found it left a bit of a residue? Not so noticable on the natural finish laminate, but on the gloss you could see it. There are some good products out there at the moment that give that anti bac clean, but wont leave a residue Cracky Ohhh I can't wait to go see display homes. I hope to go soon and visit a few but unfortunately I live 3 hours away from the nearest display homes in adelaide. I'm hoping that they all don't just have stone as their bench tops too I must admit I havent noticed many for a while, but they are out there! We are having stone in our kitchen this time round, but I'm having laminate tops in the laundry and bathrooms. I will go for the square edge ones. Have no idea what colours or finishes, but we'll get to that decision soon enough! Stop into Laminex showroom on Currie St in the city, you'd be guaranteed to see a lot of examples, pictures etc in there. From the feedback i've heard, the people in there are very helpful. Save you driving all over the state trying to find a display home example! To be honest, while I love the benchtop colours (and I haven't had any issues with scratching so far - I've been in the house for 9 months now), they are annoying to keep clean. Every mark/blemish/spot shows up in the light, and I have to buff it with a soft cloth after spray n wipe cleaning them, otherwise there are streaks. I still love them though, we couldn't afford stone or granite and this was a pretty alternative. Re: Show me your diamond gloss benchtops 19Jun 24, 2013 1:34 pm Cracky We are building in renmark I was wondering can you upload photos from an iPad? Would love to post some pics of our progress You can. I do all the time from my iPhone and iPad You just need to get a PhotoBucket or ImageShack account (just do a google search), create an account, then upload the pics to the account and it'll give you codes to paste into here.
