Finished product value hopefully 1:1.25 Re: land vs construction cost ratio 12Jun 22, 2013 5:48 pm Yep, I agree with land rates in melbourne. We couldn't even think of that and hence ended up in almost rural area(as everyone says) But i am happy with the decision because even if everybody thinks its so far away, I couldn't be happier with the kind of facilities I have there now, for what I am paying. ALso the whole idea of this thread is partially for me to retrospect what we are spending and if thats reasonable enough cost/ sq.m With 390 sq/ 350K I think I am atleast reasonable atm, if not cheap , with all the above costs. Agree there are multitude of factors here to consider but not a bad idea to know what people are spending per sq . and whats the land vs construction costs (again only in new estates as they are quite variable if we mix up old and new suburbs ) Re: land vs construction cost ratio 13Jun 22, 2013 5:57 pm We did the same and brought semi-rural and couldn't be happier with the decision. Mind you, semi-rural in SA is 1 hour out of the CBD. Building the Leabrook with Fairmont Homes in Mallala, SA. Originally we wanted Daylesford but since we both work in the CBD and would end up having to either drive to Castlemaine or Ballarat to catch the V line it made more sense to look in Ballarat.
