If it were me I wouldnt even bother putting walls in, its just limiting for storage and future flexibility I would think. We just wanted to separate the internal storage space "clean" items and often used outside items - eg brooms, boots, small gardens stuff drills etc. will fix pic ta Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Re: House Plan Opinions please 29Jul 08, 2013 6:49 pm looking great with the garage how about lining the garage up with workshop area will give you more room for the cars too. and in the workshop area have benches etc love the playroom area Re: House Plan Opinions please 30Jul 08, 2013 8:08 pm Hi Rocky, I would make garage bigger but our council says garage has to be minimum 1m set back from furthest forward part of the house - also need to keep some interest in the facade (we made that mistake with our current house and facade is simple and a bit boring : () But will try and work it in... Re: House Plan Opinions please 31Jul 09, 2013 10:42 am Makes so much more sense now mate with the door to the inside. Having noticed that, I now notice the door to the outdoor area opposite the main entry, is that really necessary? I think it would be better to be a feature spot, be it for an inset plaster neiche or even a big mirror or something rather than walking in and seeing a door there... just an idea visually. Re: House Plan Opinions please 32Jul 09, 2013 11:14 am Thought that door - in glass (maybe) would be good for some light and access to shower in powder room to swimming pool without tracking all the way around. Re: House Plan Opinions please 33Jul 09, 2013 7:50 pm bluesteel Thought that door - in glass (maybe) would be good for some light and access to shower in powder room to swimming pool without tracking all the way around. But according to a friend its bad feng shui.... Don't let your friend and his/her superstitious beliefs stop you from doing anything. Especially not when what you want to do is something practical. Would you rather have something practical or impractical? That is the question. It is not a question of pleasing your friend who believes on faith* that how you decorate or design your house somehow influences the universe. Do what you want to do. If you want a door to stop going all the way around, get one. *In other words: Faith is by definition belief without evidence. Re: House Plan Opinions please 34Jul 09, 2013 9:30 pm Thanks Danois. It was a bit tongue in cheek Our house plan I feel is very practical as that's what we want - there is only minor things at the front that are for the façade and even in that case with facades its important to us not to end up style over function. Re: House Plan Opinions please 36Jul 09, 2013 10:07 pm Your plan has really neatened up very well. Your plumber may not like me much, but those repositions work well, and being on internal walls should reduce external pipes a bit as well. I wondered re the nook entry to Bed 4, but that must be to ensure no line of sight directly in to it. The Playroom and bedrooms also look excellent. Depending on how quiet you want your Study, a solid core door and basic seals could reduce the noise from over the hallway. Form over Function wins every time. I have known Architects that F/F/F/F Fail Function for Form Look forward to the build. t Re: House Plan Opinions please 38Jul 09, 2013 10:46 pm Thank you tezzab II think you meant form should follow function?? I know of a few stunning houses that are amazing but difficult to live in - personally I don't get it. The plumbing tip was great !!! Study noise is not a major issue. Can't wait to have all the north light - today it was cold in Adelaide but our current north facing living area was a toasty 24C with sun touching the floor nearly the full width of the room. That room rarely gets below 16-17 degrees at night (no heating) Off to investigate PVC/vinyl plank/weatjerboard house cladding Re: House Plan Opinions please 39Jul 10, 2013 12:18 am Hi, Yes, got it wrong again... Never follow my own Sig line, do I ? And picked up as well by Danois, the Prefectionist, - as one of my T-Shirts is printed Make the most of that North aspect.. My plan, not released on H1, is very simple, but 2BR and Living/Common room like your setup, all North facing. No East or West windows at all. Need the sun, as where I'm going, winter daytime is 2º Average.. Re your cladding, and only a suggestion, look into MgO Boards. Magnesium Oxide Board, Strong, almost Fire Proof , easy to paint. Best source of info is Modak Board, but other suppliers of similar as well. One caution, beware of cheap options. If interested, go for Board that is CODEMARKed. http://www.modakboard.com.au The other one is mgocorp.com.au, but less detail. It prices out reasonably compared to Fibre Cement, but is not brittle like FC Sheet. Can use for walls, floors and wet areas. Not a push, just a thought to add to your checklist. 99% comes from China, but get it from a known, reputable source. i thought the flipped plan initially but bec i want narrow pathway from entry to dining (dont like bend), also cannot fit the… 7 17167 5 10417 Hi, Seeking volume or semi-custom builder in victoria(east), which have existing double story wide floor plans.
