Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jun 18, 2013 1:27 am Hi everyone So in mid February we had our pool shell completed in which it took six weeks to get the slab poured? That was 7 weeks ago!! Bricks sand and window frames only delivered last week and we were told a week and half ago bricklayer would start early last week.... Still waiting, apparently delayed on previous job for another week. That will be 8 weeks from slab to start of brickwork? Anyone else having this kind of difficulty?? Any feedback much appreciated. I guess I am frustrated because we are paying $200 a month for scaffolding on the pool shell to keep builders subbies safe and no one is actually on site for the most part of four months! Re: Waiting six weeks for slab pour, seven weeks for brickla 2Jun 18, 2013 6:12 am speak to the SS and if you still cannot et anywhere go to the head office Re: Waiting six weeks for slab pour, seven weeks for brickla 3Jun 18, 2013 9:59 am Thanks 1rocky but we don't get to speak to out SS, we have to go through a girl in the office called a Client Liaison. I email her, she talks to the supervisor and then she will get back to me. Re: Waiting six weeks for slab pour, seven weeks for brickla 4Jun 18, 2013 10:04 am What I am trying to find out is if anyone else has had these kinds of delays with brick layers, because I have been very attentive with the builders but at the end of the day they say they can do anything about it cause there is a shortage of bricklayers!! And it is a very small builder so I am going through the he'd office, it seems like the director of the company is off limits, I have asked to speak to him before and I that is when I had the SS call me, but that was in relation to getting some plumbing pipes fixed after slab pour. Re: Waiting six weeks for slab pour, seven weeks for brickla 5Jun 18, 2013 10:43 am there has been others. due to shortage of bricklayers and they are waiting awhile Re: Waiting six weeks for slab pour, seven weeks for brickla 6Jun 18, 2013 11:00 am Personally we didn't have any gap, but I am guessing that depends entirely on your builder and the amount of work they have going. Cinder- they are nota big builder, refer to themselves as boutique sort, on their website they say they take on about 60 builds a year "to allow for personalised service" - In that case I'd probably say it's excessive. We had a delayed start, but once things got going, the biggest day we had was about 10 days and that waiting for the steel to reinforce the 2nd story. Next door was only waiting 3 weeks which is what the pad need to cure anyway, that would be the minimum. They reckon they will have the house finished by October!! Will that even be possible? Re: Waiting six weeks for slab pour, seven weeks for brickla 11Jun 18, 2013 9:23 pm Hi jay. Well you've seen our thread and we have the same delay. Those damm bricklayers! Our best car scenario apparently is mid october and worst case mid november so it is possible for you. Re: Waiting six weeks for slab pour, seven weeks for brickla 13Jun 24, 2013 8:37 pm Unfortunately, we had already signed the contract with that builder before those reviews happened, I have chatted about the bad reviews with my supervisor and begged him not to put us through the same thing. He said that there are two side to the story and I shouldn't worry. I'm very worried. Re: Waiting six weeks for slab pour, seven weeks for brickla 14Jun 24, 2013 10:06 pm Can't remember how long it took to get the slab but it was 6 weeks between slab and bricks for us. A very long wait! My build thread: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=64437 The fastest thing a builder will do is bank your cheque, those systems work perfectly with lightning speed, everything else is slow burn. Just the way it is. 1 8706 Can someone please offer some advice? Im DESPERATE. Because I'm completely and utterly exhausted. How long are variations taking with other companies at the moment? We… 0 18466 Thanks for the insights, that makes perfect sense, and yeah, I will be leaning on the experience of the excavator operator entirely. 6 16142 |
