I agonised over this decision for weeks and now I can finally see the fruits of my labour! Initial thoughts - I don't think the fascia matches that well and it's a bit darker than what I expected, but I think it still looks good. Way better than bricks anyway! Less talk, more pictures For anyone who is interested, render colours are Solver Cloudy Sky and Solver Urban Tribe for the feature. On a side note, should I be concerned that the coating doesn't extend all the way to the ground? I don't know where the ground level will sit, but it seems risky to leave a gap. We have chosen Solver cloudy sky as our render but our render looks so different than yours! I am not happy with how ours have turned out.it looks so brown Our build - Moved In! viewtopic.php?f=31&t=79629 Re: PR's Finished Build - Big Photo Update Pg. 68 1364Jan 29, 2016 8:07 pm Rache Your decorating looks beautiful Pan! Photos coming soon MalSannie Hi Pan - I've just realised you must be married by now if it was less than 5 weeks to go mid August!!!! How wonderfully exciting Huge congratulations to you and Mr PR... and may you have a long and happy union. Me and Mr MS will be celebrating our 20th in a few weeks - time flies when you're having fun Congratulations on the 20 year anniversary! I've been married a whole four months now. I have some catching up to do perthgirl16 Just reading and lurking for an update- how did you go with REDINK fixing up stuff ???? Hey, sorry for the slow update. I'm blissfully unemployed now (by choice) so I have plenty of time to sit on here! The short answer is I did not receive repairs. The long answer is that I was 3 months late to my six month repair. Between wedding crunch time and the honeymoon, I really didn't have time to have tradesmen coming through my house. I was already under so much stress, I couldn't bring myself to add the extra worry of taking time of work to be home to let someone in etc etc etc. They played the "it's too late" card and I couldn't be bothered fighting it. A cost benefit analysis in my mind proved that their "fixes" were not worth it. I was prepared to argue some of the other issues that had been deferred from handover. I understand their hesitation since some issues may have exhibited between 6-9 months, but I was mainly focused on getting the big problems repaired. Things that were constructed wrong in the place, so they couldn't argue that my lateness caused it. For example, the wrong exhaust fans were installed first go, When they replaced these with the fans I ordered, the hole they cut in the plaster for the original installation was too big. Instead of replacing the ceiling, they done some questionable fix involving beams of wood and a precariously balanced fan. As a result, an exhaust fan has fallen out of the ceiling once before without interference. Luckily not on our head! My favourite is the fact that my ceiling leaked in the master bedroom because the gutter flashing is poorly done. That was a fun night. The water was coming in around the air con vent and of course it was in the most cramped, height restricted part of the roof space. Sigh... But, I still love my home. It's not the houses fault it was built by people who didn't care. I tend to my own issues. It's best this way. Ro_14 We have chosen Solver cloudy sky as our render but our render looks so different than yours! I am not happy with how ours have turned out.it looks so brown Oh that's a bugger. Perhaps it's dirty with building dust? If the colour is not what you asked for, get them to redo it. Be warned though, most contracts have a clause protecting the builder from such "slight" colour variances. Re: PR's Finished Build - A belated update and a wedding Pg. 1365Jan 29, 2016 8:26 pm Happy 2016 all! It's still January so I think we can get away with saying it. It's been a few months since I've been on here. I said I would post more regularly, then life got in the way. But it's a new year and change is good. I quit the job I had no passion for and am currently enjoying the life of a stay at home wife. Two weeks in and I'm still finding my rhythm. Most people are baffled by my perceived anarchy, but I just tell them I'm on an ahem "career break". It's actually so good. I love my husband for supporting me (in all senses of the word) while I regain my sanity. So I've been in my house for 1 year, 1 month and 10 days. Sometimes I feel it still looks empty and new, but it's certainly more 'lived-in' now. The floor has some scratches, the wall has it fair share of chips. We've had leaks and dead grass and fences falling over, and all the other fun stuff that goes with running a house. I do like my photo evidence... Of course there is a story to go behind this fence, because nothing is ever simple, but it's mostly resolved now. Not fixed yet though, I'll get to it eventually. Since my last updates I haven't made many improvements. We were gifted some money and a voucher to purchase some artwork, which we eventually do. I added some overpriced adairs teal cushions to the master bedroom, which tie the room together nicely. It's a bit empty though. So the other big life change was getting married. That happened 4 months ago now, but long ago I promised photos, so here they are. Credit to Stuart Holden Photography for these shots. Real awkward if the old H1 gang have left. To new readers, hi! I used to post somewhat prolifically on here. Perhaps I will again. Hope everyone has been well and best of the luck with the builds/move-ins. PR. Re: PR's Finished Build - A belated update and a wedding Pg. 1366Jan 29, 2016 8:41 pm You look gorgeous . Makes me won't to get married lol. I think you see your house so differently after the 1st year . It becomes a home . And with that comes dents and scratches . Just wait till you have kids . Enjoy your time as husband and wife . Re: PR's Finished Build - A belated update and a wedding Pg. 1367Jan 29, 2016 10:46 pm OMG your dress is so beautiful (and so are you) Panraptor. thanks for posting the pics as I followed your build and post build and now lovely to see your wedding pics. Not good about your building woes too. I know what you mean about the scratches and dents, I sigh whenever I see mine. I have to get back to the builder about a couple of issues but keep on putting them off as not really in the mood to deal with them. Hope you keep posting. Re: PR's Finished Build - A belated update and a wedding Pg. 1369Jan 30, 2016 10:08 am Congratulations Pan and Mr Pan! Photos are beautiful! We too are now at the stage of dealing with RI post handover. You really do have to choose your battles. We've only been in two months and we have dents and scratches already! Re: PR's Finished Build - A belated update and a wedding Pg. 1370Jan 30, 2016 12:37 pm OMG Pan! You look so beautiful! Photos are absolutely stunning. So sorry to here about ongoing house dramas. I would have thought the leaking was a structural issue and they should fix it automatically? I have just been talking to a friend who is doing a small kitchen reno in Perth. Every trade involved have done a substandard job and all have made excuses and/or blamed someone else. So sad that it seems impossible to find tradies that care about the service they provide. I am just about to get the putty out and fill in the few nicks in our walls...doesnt take long hey! We have been in for nearly 10 months and are just starting on the outside. I get the feeling it will always be a work in progress!! Re: PR's Finished Build - A belated update and a wedding Pg. 1371Jul 12, 2016 1:08 pm Oh you look beautiful! I havent been on here in the longest time either, but both you and your house look amaze! Oh and huzzah for career break! You go you good thing! PanRaptor Happy 2016 all!
