(+photos p 1304Dec 18, 2014 2:28 pm Grrrr this makes me angry too and I'm taking lots of notes. Wonder if that's something our inspection would pick up. Seems like drains not draining and exhaust fans not actually being hooked up are more common than I'd like to believe. On the plus side you and your robe fitout are gorgeous and the house looks amazing even if it doesn't work properly Re: PR's Build - Another gem from Redink Homes... (+photos p 1305Dec 18, 2014 3:01 pm Oh dear, hope you get the water drainage issue resolved with redink! What kind of a reply is that from them??!! Lovely floors....and btw there is a strange lady with glasses and moustach in your WIR lol.. This makes me so angry for you Pan, they better come up with a better response than the joke they offered you so far and fix the drainage issues for you. But you are right, at least you have your pretty floors, your very pretty wardrobe and your fez to help keep you distracted Re: PR's Redink Build - Some completely unrelated news! :) 1308Dec 23, 2014 6:17 pm PanRaptor Thank you everyone! Here are some photos of the build, just to keep it relevant! Looks like waterproofing has been done. I threw bucket water on my kids toilet floor after cleaning grout... it all runs to the wall and not down the drain. GRRRR Blue carpet is lovely touch with your splashback. OMG I can't believe the bollocks excuse they came up with. I suppose they're all shut down now over the xmas break as well. Hope it gets sorted out soon. On the other hand, your house looks amazing! Re: PR's Build - Moved in and (almost) finished + Photos Pg 1312Jan 11, 2015 5:56 pm Hello everyone! Remember me? Well now you didn't think I had forgotten about you all! Sorry for my absence of late. I've been busy living life. Christmas, New Year and now being back at work. Time escapes me... So I've been happily moved in for just over three weeks now. Gosh I don't want to do that again for at least five years! I don't think I've ever been so busy in my life! Never before have I spent so much money either. It was slightly alarming just how easily I managed to spend tens of thousands of dollars. Boxing Day especially was a big hit! But the end result is a house my Fiancé and I love living in. We feel truly blessed that our first home is a new home. Very fortunate indeed. Over the break I had the chance to entertain several times, including hosting New Years Eve for about 25 friends. I found the experience both exhilarating and terrifying! I was certainly tested when the same friend managed to spill his gin and tonic 4 times on my floorboards... But the house survived and passed the test! I also have it on good authority (from the 10 people that crashed here) that the carpet is pleasant to sleep on! I hope everyone had a wonderful festive season and I hope 2015 brings joy and happiness to us all! Now for the exciting part - photos! I was going to stage some pretty photos and make sure all the mess was cleared, but that's not real. Houses are made to be lived in. Even with my compulsive tendencies, you can't have everything perfect all the time. Lots of rooms are still a 'work in progress' and there are many issues to attend to (non-draining drain, exhaust fans falling out of the ceiling and getting my money back from a certain concreter). It's enough to make you lose your mind, but it's all part of the fun of home ownership! Now enough jibber jabber and let's see some pics! (+photos p 1320Jan 12, 2015 6:12 pm Beazley77 Is it even legal to have a sanitary sewerage overflow, flow to a soak away and not the sewerage system pipes? I'm a little late to this, but I just had it pointed out to me. Not having a building background, like you I was a bit concerned, so I did some research. I tracked this down on the Department of Health website Another way of taking away water on the floor is a dry floor waste. These can be placed in other rooms containing plumbing fixtures, such as the laundry or toilet, to assist in draining water from the floor. A dry floor waste discharges the water directly into the ground just outside the room, because the amount of wastewater, usually from floor washing, should not be large and cause pooling. I then had a chat with our Construction Manager, and it seems its not just legal, it is the standard design for toilet floor wastes. As the quote above suggests, they are not designed to take away large quantities of water because this will cause pooling. I hope this helps. interesting situation what happened after builder issued final invoice? did you list as defect or not does the building surveyor have any responsibility? ie. issuing… 13 46961 Building Standards; Getting It Right!
