Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Fairmont Homes Build - SA (Modified Sicily) 21Jun 17, 2013 12:00 am I am bay windowing it. It is just the look I want from inside my study at the front. Plans to put an awesome armchair in there or a window seat. It will be my scrapbook/teaching-planning study/work room. It goes well with the frontage we have too. I think they have there place in certain builds and frontages. Ironic thing is we paid extra to have it and that is the side where there will be a garden bed with a metre retaining wall and you won't see that much of it from the street anyway. Waste of money from outside now but I already like the feel of it from the inside. That room is going to be shabby chic so should work well. We couldn't really afford the modern frontage we wanted across our 17m with all the rendering and extra stone we wanted. So we went with large (double size- block) bricks, rendered quoins and base band. Works with that. Re: Fairmont Homes Build - SA (Modified Sicily) 22Jun 17, 2013 9:44 am tasha_is_clueless It really sucks that they wouldn't even let you do two pack Lucinda. I know Fairmont will do it for $60 a panel. Did they atleast allow the polygloss? We are getting that because it looks just like two pack really but is half the price. We are getting what they call gloss white wrap so I expect that is similar to polygloss. I wasn't keen on wrap because I've read about yellowing and peeling--would rather contend with chips!--so I was thinking of laminex but my husband didn't like the finish. He's happy with laminex in the bathroom and laundry, but wanted a more polished look for the kitchen because it is part of the main living area--we don't have a separate lounge or theatre room so everything other than sleeping will take place there. I think they have there place in certain builds and frontages. It's going to be wonderful. I have a front room as my study at the moment--I'll miss it. I do have thoughts of a small sofa or armchair for our bay window. It looks out to the backyard which we are hoping is going to look really pretty once landscaped and with a slatted open roof pergola and some small outdoor furniture. So hes only starting to paint today. Allthough BIRs, showers, taps, and sinks are all in. Splashback is due for the end of the week. Hopefully handover soon! Yeah really happy with the dark floor tiles and white wall tiles. the kitchen looks good but wish we did the upper cupboards a slightly lighter colour to give it 2 colours. But I think it'll look good when splashback is in. 4 Follow our build http://bit.ly/11fwbgB Contract Signed 2/12/12 Slab poured 14/04/13 Frame\Roof Complete 27/05/13 Brickwork Complete 14/06/13 Lockup 10/07/13 Re: Fairmont Homes Build - SA (Modified Sicily) [Benchtops] 37Mar 22, 2016 12:51 pm I'm looking at building the Sicily and extending the living area. I was wondering if you could tell me, with all your extra feaatures how much you ended up paying for your build. Likewise, having built a few years ago is there anything you wish you had done differently. Thanks in advance Thank you so much everyone. This all makes a lot of sense. I guess when you talk to a builder who butters up everything to look very polished, you get to start believing… 8 2217 Yes, i hace signed build contract and currently awaiting colour selection appointment. 2 29065 Ask for references and speak to them.
