Im in the process of designing my home , nothing fancy just a nice small home. I welcome any DYI ideas or concepts anyone has for me to consider. Im looking for ideas that will add value to my home without necessary adding much costs,I have a few things on my mind below that may be considered and would welcome any ideas or comments,. Of course I will also use the search button as well. All paving will be done my myself, Ive done plenty before. It goes without saying all internal/external painting will be done by me. Im considering acid staining floor finishes to all or most of the beds and living areas Im thinking Tuscan style home or old Australia Breaking from my theme but Im interested in looking at glass splashbacks to bathroom, I hate tiles !! Has anyone self rendered around windows to achieve "a look " Im worried some of the ideas I have will look tacky or cheap, but I do want to be brave with my choices.... safe is boring ! feel free to share guys, Thanks Tony Re: New home DYI ideas please 2Jun 13, 2013 8:37 am Some additional thoughts: Paving - if you do pave, pave with light colours. Not grey like I did Is there room for a deck and/or pergola/verandah? Stone top vanity units. You can get cheap offcut ceaserstone/ quartz which you could replace the usual vanity laminate Look at a fancy Meals room lighting fixture, lighting in general Good luck!
