Browse Forums Building A New House Re: water bore recommendation 2Jun 23, 2013 6:54 pm You need the right contractor to drill down, install a casing, and a submersible pump. I have chosen solar powered pumps and been very happy. One of the was a 2 panel tracking station. Meaning it moved to follow the sun. Re: water bore recommendation 3Jul 31, 2013 9:13 pm Hi CC101, It is a 2 stage process. First of all you need to get a specialist to drill the bore for you. Then you need to call a pump specialist and like leighton has pointed out you can use a normal bore system or use a solar bore system. The bore will pump into a header tank or dam. A pump specialist would get the flow rate of the bore and correctly size the pump system to give you enough water for what you plan to use the system for. It is very important to size the system correctly so you get enough water but the bore doesn't run dry and damage the pump. I hope that helps Re: water bore recommendation 4Sep 30, 2013 3:43 pm Is there a normal cost range that a bore will cost? What are the typical variables involved? They should be able to give you estimate of depth required and the probable cost. The other very important item is the quality of the water, if it's too salty you will have wasted your money however regardless it will be your risk as to the depth and the quality of water. I sunk a 46 M bore 4 years ago (at the height of drought) and it cost $4500 (we went through 3 aquifers and got 60l/min) Grundfoss submersible pump and ancilliaries was another $4500. The water is crystal clear and drinkable. It is purer than the river because river is subject to fertilizer and pesticide run off. I know this may not help you much because you are in Perth but some info is better than nothing. Looks like we need to go down 20m according to the Water Corp. Time to start talking to drilling contractors. Just make sure at that depth you have adequate water to fill your header tank and also make sure the the bore pump flow rate is lower than the bore so you don't run into any problems. sometimes drilling an extra 5m can save you a lot of issues. there should be ss cable so you can pull up bore pump for service 1 3135 If you need to pay for a project manager you would be well advised to just engage a builder who would take full responsibility for the build.
