Re: who's had an independant inspection in Adelaide 3Jun 06, 2013 8:19 pm oh another thing I just thought of, do I need to advise my builder an inspector will be turning up on such a time and date? Re: who's had an independant inspection in Adelaide 5Jun 07, 2013 8:28 pm had one at frame stage, that part was crucial to me seeing that it is structural, to follow engineers specs, walls plumb & square, & finally to make sure it was braced correctly. From memory it was around $350 Re: who's had an independant inspection in Adelaide 6Jun 07, 2013 11:37 pm Definitely worthwhile if you're unsure or need to know that you're structurally sound, or even just peace of mind. I work for a building company, so I got one of our supervisors to have a look at our frame before it went any further. We mostly just wanted peace of mind, not necessarily because we'd seen something that looked out of place. He picked up on a couple of things, we questioned them with the builder, had the fixed and moved on. You can spend anywhere from $200 for a site visit to $5-$800 if you need a full report or an engineer to be involved. There are loads of building companies in Adelaide that would go out to site for you, even a lot of insurance-only builders are taking on private works. Just have a ring around and ask their rates and make an appointment.
