I'm having a hard time deciding on pendant lights for my kitchen island and dinning room. I'm looking for 3 separate pendant for the kitchen island and 3 grouped pendant for the dining room if you know what I mean. Looking for something that looks modern.
It would be helpful if people can post up a photo or link showing what they have and where they bought theirs from to give me some ideas.

I too am on the search for pendant lights. Harder than it looks!
We're picky though. We want something not ultra modern, but not old fashioned either. Going to look in some shops tomorrow and will report back.

Ultra cool with all indirect ligthing (you can't see the bulb from the outside at any angle), it comes either in copper, brushed stainless, opaque (white, that is) glass, or white paint. It comes in four diameters (which all seem smaller in real life): 480, 600, 720, and 840mm
It's the Poul Henningsen (PH) Artichoke.

Unfortunately, it's ultra expensive too (we're talking 6-13k depending on size)
I have seen some other lamps that looks nice. Secto springs to mind. They make a couple of different shapes, made from birch slats and can come with a natural outer, white or black outer. They also come in different sizes.
Here is one shape:
If you do a google image search for "secto lamp" (without the scarecrows), there is plenty of pictures of them above kitchen benches/islands. I really like them as a modern lamp, yet not too "harshly" modern because of the materials used. But then I like things made from wood.

They sell them in Beacon for about $80 each, however I shopped around and we ended up ordering them online from onlinelighting for $48 each. Saved about $100
