Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jun 05, 2013 9:00 pm Hi, Ive recently bought a strata titled block that settled on the 17 of may. I just got a letter from the water corp telling me i haven't paid my bill of ~$420 and legal action will be taken against me if i don't pay in 7 days. does this sound at all correct? the block has no water meter yet. Ive already paid rates as part of the settlement Re: Water bill for vacant land (WA) 4Jun 05, 2013 10:35 pm You're only liable for the water rate from the settlement date until the end of the financial year. It should have been sorted out by your settlement agent. Give them a call and ask them. Re: Water bill for vacant land (WA) 6Jun 06, 2013 10:03 am You will have a bill regardless of a meter. If the water passes your block - you do have access to it - so therefore you pay for this - ie not water usage - but water availability. Should be just the admin cost though. Re: Water bill for vacant land (WA) 7Jun 06, 2013 4:04 pm It may also be that they have charged you based on an estimate worked out by the average usage in the area. Our first water bill when our block was vacant was higher than the bill we got for our rental on the same day. We had paid the pro rata rates at settlement a few months earlier. We just asked for a meter reading and turned out we owed about 10% of what they had billed us initially.
