Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jun 03, 2013 12:39 pm Hey everyone,
I have been following many threads on here for a while and have read some very helpful tips. There are so many bits and pieces to decide on but I thought it was time to start my own thread at last! So many thoughts spin around in my brain......I've been dreaming about wooden flooring and combustion heaters Here are our plans, we are building in SA and look forward to a fun journey. We are building with a custom builder and have been more than happy with the process so far. Let me know your thoughts as we can still make some last minute interior changes.....council has approved the rest! Happy building all!! Re: Final plans... Now the fun starts! 2Jun 03, 2013 1:12 pm Also any suggestions for earthy render colours would be great! We will have timber cladding above portico and a timber entry deck, thinking a light earthy render for main façade and maybe a daker tone for the pillars. The roof will probably be dark grey. Thanks! Re: Final plans... Now the fun starts! 3Jun 03, 2013 1:49 pm I have no idea re render colours but I wanted to say I love your plan. It look very spacious and practical. Now the fun starts! 5Jun 03, 2013 2:11 pm Thank you HomeAngels, we've been tinkering with the plan for a while and I think it will work really well for us, plenty of room with two young kiddies around! Our start date wont be until late August or early Sept, only due to the fact my hubby is going OS for a month. We are doing a knockdown/rebuild so he has to be around for the knockdown part Re: Final plans... Now the fun starts! 6Jun 03, 2013 2:13 pm Knock down rebuild? Now the fun starts! 10Jun 04, 2013 4:23 pm I like your plan- no idea on colours sorry Re: Final plans... Now the fun starts! 11Jun 05, 2013 11:02 am You could try Evening Haze, or (Dulux) Stone or Paving Stone with a darker colour eg. Ploughed Earth for the pillars. Match the windows to the roof. This will create contrast between the render. Keep the fascia light for roof line definition. With simple facades like this, just don't over do the colours. Keep it simple. Re: Final plans... Now the fun starts! 12Jun 05, 2013 1:57 pm nice plans! house has a lot of room! tammy your welcome to follow our build https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=64842 Block cut - 15th February 2014 Re: Final plans... Now the fun starts! 13Jun 05, 2013 4:16 pm Wow, great plan! Love how you can walk from the garage and all that storage! Also love how the laundry is next the kitchen (not near the kids) and can also has close access to garage. There is a new Dechellis show home up at Blackwood Park called The Vogue that has render and timber cladding along the top of the portico and a grey roof. The render is white though, but I think the facade looks quite smart. Here is a pic http://www.dechellishomes.com.au/gallery#ad-image-51 but the render looks more white in real life, this pic looks like it was taken at sunset. Re: Final plans... Now the fun starts! 14Jun 06, 2013 11:59 am Thanks everyone! Yes mrsrusty the plan is nice and spacious and the storage....well I'm certainly making sure there is plenty because at the moment I have 1 tiny linen cupboard and a little storage space in two built in robes! So hard with kids and I'm definitely compensating myself from years of suffering! I love the space in our plan too, especially how I can come in from the garage with all the shopping and pop it straight in the butlers pantry. Thank you for the Dechellis link, they certainly have some beautiful homes and I hadn't seen that one yet. It was great to check out that façade, mainly because while figuring out colour schemes for ours something just didn't feel right. We have decided to keep it simple and keep the façade all one colour, I think the timber work will be a feature in itself and to have a different coloured roof, pillar, timber and façade will just be too busy. Simple yet classy is the key! The timber work will be more a dark brown and not as "thick" as the dechellis home, a timber entry deck with aggregate driveway and path should look nice! Thanks for the input with colours d@n......we went to a friends house yesterday and they have a lovely render in the doeskin colour, really really like that one so will continue my research! Re: Final plans... Now the fun starts! 15Jun 22, 2013 9:33 pm Funny at the moment we have a tiny linen cupboard and two built in robes (but we do have a WIR) with kids and I can totally sympathise with the storage situation! Hope the research into what you are going to do with facade works out, look forward to reading about your build. Adelaide 1st build - help with garage door colour! 16Aug 04, 2013 12:05 pm So since the last post we have been gradually packing up the house ready for demo within the next 4 weeks. I have a clearer idea of the façade colours but cant decide which garage door will look best. The roof will be woodland grey, fascia and downpipes paperbark, render doeskin (very similar to paperbark), aluminium window frames and eaves off white or surfmist depending on range of choice. I'm just not sure if a paperbark or surfmist garage would look best?? Has anyone got a similar colour scheme pic I could have a look at? We will also have some timber cladding at the top of the portico with matching timber entry deck and entry door. I hate decisions!! I will attatch a pic our façade when I remember how! Thanks! Re: Adelaide - first custom build 17Aug 04, 2013 12:29 pm http://i1367.photobucket.com/albums/r79 ... d380bd.jpg The window frames will differ, no centre frame most likely. Re: Adelaide - first custom build. Which colour garage door? 18Aug 04, 2013 7:26 pm My preference would be paperbark. The surfmist is super light and would show every bit of dirt. My parents chose cream roller doors a couple of years ago and they always look dirty. So we chose paperbark for our build to hide the dirt a little better.Hope this helps Follow my build: https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=63022 19/1 Contract 3/7 Slctns 10/7 Bld Int 23/10 Land Settle 21/11 Slab 14/1 Frame 28/4 Kitchen Re: Adelaide - first custom build. Which colour garage door? 19Aug 04, 2013 9:02 pm You could also consider a timber look garage door? Re: Adelaide - first custom build. Pls help with render colo 20Aug 18, 2013 11:37 am Ok so colours are: Paperbark garage door, downpipes and fascia Woodland grey roof white birch window frames dark stained timber cladding above portico ???? render I'm now thinking paperbark/doeskin might be too much the same tone. I'm struggling to find a nice tone that will still look nice with white birch windows. I want the windows light to stand out a little so don't want paperbark for these too. Heeeelp! So it looks like we finally have some movement on site! Definitely later than expected, but I'll take any progress at this point. I'll drop by over the weekend to get… 5 27693 9 24789 I'd get the gutters to match your roof and pipes to match the paint - otherwise they become a feature. Nice pick with the paint colours! 1 34269 |
