Re: Aveley-Dale Alcock - Keys Tomorrow? 324Mar 17, 2014 10:17 pm Hey fancy pants sorry I've not been on it's been pretty hectic! Friday went well and we got the keys, all in all a great day. Done lots already. Clean is not what I would call clean and disappointed with the amount of paint splashes so have take ages cleaning. We have got the lights up in the kitchen which I love and I just love the way they cast the swirls all over the room. Sooooooo much to do, it's a bit over whelming I think. Fence did go up which I am over the moon about. A few photos tonight of the lights on the garage and kitchen. I have a sad disappointment though. I don't like my kitchen tiles, love everything else. I thought I was playing safe but ended up in no mans land. Looks like I'm going to have to splash out on a glass splash back! How great that all went well with handover. Am intrigued about your kitchen splashback - which tiles did you go with? Hope all goes well in the next few weeks - hectic is certainly the right word for scheduling trades and taking control of the house after handover Re: Aveley-Dale Alcock - Keys Tomorrow? 326Mar 18, 2014 12:12 am Ha! I totally agree with your evaluation of the cleaning. I cannot wait to get in and give our place a good and proper clean. I was noticing today that there's now oily crap all over the range hood and dark smudge marks on the beautiful Caesarstone. I'm intrigued by your splash back issue too. Do you have any other pics? What don't you like about it? Colour? Shape? Texture? They don't look do bad in the pic I can see above. Glad everything else is going well! Re: Aveley-Dale Alcock - Keys Tomorrow? 329Apr 07, 2014 8:15 am Sorry not been on here for a while. Hectic doesn't even come close to the last few weeks. With work, kids and moving it's rather stressful juggling everything. We have moved in over this weekend and have most of our things across from the old house. We decided to move ourselves as we have a couple of weeks to settlement. Bad decision! It's take far longer than I thought, although I have had a chance to sort out our masses of "stuff"! Overall really pleased with the house, the finishing still bugs me in places and the fact that I had to clean properly. The kitchen tiles are lovely I think it's the grout colour which turns them into something else that I can't explain. It's a muddy colour and I think it needs to have a darker colour grout. All you see is the grout not the tile. I was thinking about getting a tile grout pen and going over it, I was meaning to call European ceramics and ask what colour they would recommend as there is no colour stated on the tile annexure. Maybe they got the wrong grout colour again. As soon as settlement goes through on our previous house I think we have decided to go with glass splashback, this is what we should have done in the first place but we were trying to watch the pennies. Front garden gets started on Saturday and I'm really excited. First the retaining wall and steps to the front door then the landscaper can come and turf and plant up. It will make a huge difference to the front. We are waiting for settlement before we can do the back as well as this is where the money for the pool is coming from. It feels like a money pit at the moment and a lot of unfinished but we will get there........... As you said FP slowly. The living area is huge and looks great. I absolutely can appreciate how hectic it all is!!! It certainly is coming together nicely though Re: Aveley-Dale Alcock - Keys Tomorrow? 331Apr 07, 2014 8:51 am Thanks tbrown, I can't believe how busy it is I'm exhausted from it, but it'll be worth it in the end. Forgot just how big the house was and we need to fill it now. Luckily most of our furniture does well just got to get a few key pieces. Your front looks amazing, I hope ours goes as well as yours. We still need to find someone to render and paint the retaining wall and letterbox once it's done. We are having it made in limestone block so it matches for the time being but want it rendering pretty quickly once it's done. I have no patience so this waiting for the money so I can splurge is driving me mad! The floors need another BIG clean. Dust and sand appears from nowhere. Amen to that! We've given up on the cleaning for now as there's still so much work to do. I've been quite disappointed with several of our finishes too, but from what I can see your place looks great. The furniture all fits so well and the hints of red are fantastic. I know what you mean about slow progress though. We don't really have any furniture and as much as I'd like to go on one big spending spree and furnish a whole house, it's just not possible. We might have to invest in a lotto ticket! Building with Dale Alcock Homes in Aveley Our thread: https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=63880 And yes, my pants are indeed fancy. On the up side we are finally all moved in, although soooooooo many boxes to unpack. I can't believe how much hard work it has been to get cleaned (still un happy with that one), get the final trades out to fix little problems (still waiting on Jason windows to fix doors and problems) Still waiting for the front retaining wall to get done, so many delays from the landscaper, and never realised that he only works weekends???? No idea what that is about! Should be done this Saturday and will be glad to get rid of some of the sand. Settlement on our old house should be 16/5 sooooooooo cannot wait for SHOPPING!!! let the fun begin............ Most of the house has had all of our current furniture moved in which is lovely (don't get me worng) but i cannot wait to get some key pieces to add to it, mirrors, wall art, hall console table and new tv consoles. We went splurged on a new tele last weekend and got that on the wall which I am really pleased with. Time to start looking at wallpaper too, I love wallpaper. It's great having lived in the house a week or two now to see the different light, where things need moving around and how my highlight red looks. I wanted change the red as I have had it for a few years now, but I couldn't find anything that I really wanted to change it to, so will keep the red. Went out today to look at glass splashbacks and it has come in less than we thought considering how much we need, so hubby is happy. Now just need to decide on the colour...... Eek, do I go with the red and carry the theme, or would that be too much. I am just not sure with the white cabinets as I don't want to go too dark but at the same time want it to have a bit of wow. I love the showroom colours, but not sure this is giving me the wow I am looking for. Decisions decisions Probably a too long update but I don't seem to have any time any more and without the shopping, then not much to tell you about. The snagging list is growing, and the finish in places is something that you only see once you start living in the house. I only hope Dale Alcock put them all right. Show home colour splashback.
