Browse Forums Building A New House 1 May 30, 2013 1:53 pm Hi All, We are building with Beechwood Merlo Four Terrazza Twist.. We are opting for colorbond roof, however apparently sarking is not included, for anyone that has gone the same any ideas on how much sarking is going to cost?? BW state free colorbond roof but are not quick to mention sarking is extra thanks Re: Beechwood colorbond roof sarking 2May 30, 2013 2:11 pm We had sarking put into our house and for 300sqm it cost around $4k - fully installed and including builders margin, I personally found that expensive but it wasn't something we could really put in after the build, so we had to bite the bullet and pay...our roof didn't have to have it, but my Dad's a builder and he said if we could afford to do it, then we should. Re: Beechwood colorbond roof sarking 3May 30, 2013 2:54 pm Hi kerryj I believe most builders will have the standard ceiling batts included, and some with/without sarking. Sarking, or even better reflective foil insulation (if you can opt for) works to reflect heat, while batts works by absorbing heat. If you can combine these two, it will essentially increase your roof insulation levels significantly. My guess that it is around the $10-12 per sqm mark installed. What I did with my build was me supplying my product of choice and requested that the builders install. Good luck! Beechwood was pretty reasonable with the price, tho I agree that a 'free colourbond roof' and compulsory sarking is a pretty crap offer. Building Standards; Getting It Right! Hi all Iām in VIC and had some storm damage in my garage a month ago. Gutter found not fit for purpose. Insurance company saying the guttering and flashing to be fixed… 0 11712 Your house roof does not show rusting other than some surface rust on the flashings. In my opinion you dont need to replace or paint the roof other than treat surface rust… 1 10207 You should pressure clean your roof first and make sure the paint you buy also is anti mould. 4 18563 |
