Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Our Rocky Forever Home - post handover jobs 661Jun 27, 2014 3:48 am I too have a real phobia - I really wish I didn't but it is so bad I can't look at pictures of them. I've also had some 'interactions' with them similar to yours! And have a scar to prove why I don't like them. And I realise they're much smaller than me and if they had any sense they'd be scared of me - but a phobia is hardly something rational Having said all of that, I have to remember to not do this to myself http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/newstopics/howaboutthat/7973024/Man-blows-himself-up-trying-to-kill-a-spider.html Re: Our Rocky Forever Home - post handover jobs 662Jun 27, 2014 8:50 pm I understand phobias... I am the same with rats & mice. My heart races and I cant even look at pics of them. I don't particularly like spiders either! But I don't react the same... But rats & mice, I turn into a psycho quivering mess We all have our things! No rational logical thinking at all! Re: Our Rocky Forever Home - post handover jobs 664Jun 28, 2014 7:08 am Hi Evec, Progress is steady but seems slow! Tiling is taking longer than expected because his labourer assistant never showed up so he's working on his own. I hope today we'll FINALLY get the missing stone bench top placed. The stone people have been so hopeless. Anyway work is progressing well out front. I was so worried about how it was going to turn out but I think it'll be okay. Driveway will be Monday now. And even better when plants and dirt are in the garden bed! Meanwhile we had the concrete poured for the laundry path, finally somewhere my kids could make their marks. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Hubby's just got a great locum position which means he's going to be away during the week and home only on Saturday nights for the next two months. It's a great opportunity financially for us, short term pain for long term gain but I am TERRIFIED because now I will have to pack the house, move house and unpack the house mostly on my own with the two kids. Eeeeeeeeep! Build thread: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=65085 Re: Our Rocky Forever Home - post handover jobs 665Jun 28, 2014 7:00 pm The stone guys actually showed up but I won't be showing any more kitchen pics til the splash back is done next week heehee. What they also did while they were there was drill the holes for our insinkerator switch and soap dispenser. I'm really happy with these. The insinkerator switch will sit down more flush when it's installed properly. Excuse the revolting dirt! So depressing, can't wait til the tiler is done and out of there. Scary re packing and moving on your own, but it will all be worth it in the end Build thread http://tinyurl.com/llgc7yk Re: Our Rocky Forever Home - post handover jobs 667Jun 28, 2014 8:00 pm Looking so good, Emy! The kitchen stone and tapware is to die for. Loving the kids' markings on the concrete too. I can imagine how terrified you are, regarding the prospect of packing, moving and unpacking without hubby's help. I can totally commiserate, will be in a similar position here. Hope it all goes smoothly for you <3 Building a Regatta 2920 with Planbuild in Brisbane https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=71425 Re: Our Rocky Forever Home - post handover jobs 669Jun 29, 2014 3:07 pm what a grand entrance there for your house Emy, and the steps just make it even more nicer. I can't wait to see the finished product. - Build thread- My Allegra- Dream by Henley Re: Our Rocky Forever Home - post handover jobs 670Jun 29, 2014 5:24 pm I love the steps and entry too it looks very posh It is a shame about having to move on your own, but as you say it is short term pain for long term gain. I've had to do it twice before too when OH had to leave on short notice once for work and once for family funeral abroad (that was awful as I really wanted to go too but we had to be out of our rental). It is stressful but you'll get there and you'll feel a real sense of accomplishment when you're done - the unpacking doesn't have to happen all at once either (I'm ashamed to say we still have a box or 2 unpacked in the garage a few years later ) Re: Our Rocky Forever Home - post handover jobs 671Jun 29, 2014 7:28 pm Very grand entrance! Looks fab! My build thread: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=64437 Re: Our Rocky Forever Home - post handover jobs 672Jul 02, 2014 4:29 pm Just caught up. Great news about your husbands job opportunity but it sucks you'll have to move on your own. Love your kitchen bench colour, looks similar to mine. The turf is going down over the weekend and we're hoping to get the tiler out of there and the house cleaned properly early next week so should be more photos then! It's coming together. Carpet tomorrow, YAY!! I think that'll really change the feel of things. Nervous about tile grout and dust and silicon being around the carpet though... :s More issues with the kitchen cabinetmaker, the microwave space is too small. I brought up this issue about six weeks ago but was brushed off as "it'll be fine". I thought perhaps I had measured it incorrectly but NO, I was right after all. So I'm rather furious about it all. God knows how long it'll take to fix. Build thread: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=65085 Re: Our Rocky Forever Home - post handover jobs 674Jul 02, 2014 5:44 pm In other news.... Goddess of conceptions maybe.... The thing is hubby and I had JUST decided to wait and perhaps try to conceive later when we'd be eligible for the increased maternity leave entitlements next year... We weren't actually "trying" but were a tiny bit careless again because we had been so undecided.... We had also been wondering whether we should go for a third at all.... So I'm having very confused emotions right now. Main emotion is terrified! I'm terrified I'll lose the baby again and also terrified I won't be able to cope with 3!
