They would work well with your gorgeous kitchen. Bigblock7 Exciting you finally have a handover date! I love the table with the modern chairs, and I think the stools will suit beautifully too! Tracyw Love the chairs! evec hi Emy, congrats on your build, boy what a journey, love love your kitchen - it has some character that i really love and the table with the retro look chairs- just fab. now you get to enjoy your house. Thanks Gertrude, Evec, BB and Tracy!! lmille32 The house is looking beautiful! We also have the same handover date! Not that we ours was as 'official'. I just said we have to move out of our rental on the 17th, will it be ready? and he said yes. But now that I go back and look at your list of final things to finish, I suppose ours is at a similar stage. Although add plumbing to list of things to finish. I love the table with the modern chairs. Nice choice. Wow, what a coincidence! How exciting for you too! We won't actually be moving in until the 12th of July as we have a fair bit of stuff to get done post-handover. trixee The table and the eames chairs look great together. If you don't love the stools maybe wait awhile or find something else? Problem is I've been looking for stools since we started building and I really haven't been able to find anything I like better. And we really do NEED stools.... I hope they'll be okay. Build thread: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=65085 Re: Our Rocky Forever Home - HANDOVER June 17th!! :D 546Jun 02, 2014 10:06 am So we really DO love the Eames chairs with that particular table, problem is they are quite low chairs and the table is on the high side.... I wonder if we could somehow shave ~8cm off the legs of the dining table..... does anyone have any experience with this? Would we be stupid to go at an expensive table like this and possibly ruin it? Build thread: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=65085 Re: Our Rocky Forever Home - HANDOVER June 17th!! :D 547Jun 02, 2014 11:06 am EmyN So we really DO love the Eames chairs with that particular table, problem is they are quite low chairs and the table is on the high side.... Would we be stupid to go at an expensive table like this and possibly ruin it? umm, the table is too nice I hope you won't ruin it, can't you get some high chairs? maybe just keep looking you might find the perfect stools- good luck! - Build thread- My Allegra- Dream by Henley Re: Our Rocky Forever Home - HANDOVER June 17th!! :D 548Jun 02, 2014 11:16 am EmyN So we really DO love the Eames chairs with that particular table, problem is they are quite low chairs and the table is on the high side.... Would we be stupid to go at an expensive table like this and possibly ruin it? 8cm is a lot to shave off, could you still sit comfortably under it with the drawer depth? Also consider how the legs taper and see if the table still looks in proportion once you've altered it? Re: Our Rocky Forever Home - HANDOVER June 17th!! :D 549Jun 02, 2014 11:26 am What if you get cushions for the chairs? Re: Our Rocky Forever Home - HANDOVER June 17th!! :D 550Jun 03, 2014 10:11 am How exciting that you have a handover date! It will be here before you know it With regards to the table question - I would be leery of trimming the legs. I would either look for different chairs or find a lower table to suit the eames chairs. I had this dining table saved in pinterest (it's coupled with the eames chairs too): http://daregallery.com.au/a/dining-tables-1/dare-gallery/vic/australia/saint-malo-dining-table-220cm/100037588 Building a Regatta 2920 with Planbuild in Brisbane https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=71425 Re: Our Rocky Forever Home - HANDOVER June 17th!! :D 551Jun 03, 2014 12:45 pm Hrrm... so that's a rather unanimous NO for trimming the table legs! Hahaha. Why oh why do they make Eames chairs so low.... We haven't found a table we love nearly as much as this one.... hmmm we might have another look round the shops this weekend. Cinquain that's hilarious! It's almost the exact same table, extension, same leg shape etc and exact same chairs we're looking at! Great minds think alike eh?? Meanwhile last minute decision to put pendant lights in the powder rooms instead of above mirror lights. I know it's not to everyone's taste but I am in love with them. Poor hubby was railroaded into agreeing to them haha. The vanity is so little I wasn't sure it would work, but I think the pendant is small enough to still look in proportion.... I hope. (P.S. The hand towel rail is going to be moved down and across too.) I do love that table! I wouldn't go shaving it off, but that's partly bc I'd have no confidence in myself getting it right!! Btw, since we have similar taste, I thought I'd show you my bar stools. They're from ikea. Not quite the same look you've pictured, but I have ours with cute little faded striped cushions tied on to give it a more rustic/country feel. I find having the white finish ties in well with modern kitchen. Re: Our Rocky Forever Home - HANDOVER June 17th!! :D 560Jun 04, 2014 4:22 pm CountryHome would you believe I had the wood finish ones of those in the shortlist! They're Plan B. I planned to go and look at them because I haven't actually seen them in person. I had concerns that they might feel a bit "cheap/Ikea" in the wood finished - you know that fake wood feeling. The white wouldn't have that issue but I really do want something warmer for the kitchen. I might go to Ikea over the weekend and see how they look. Meanwhile we're having ridiculous dramas about DOOR STOPS of all things. We told our colour consultant that we wanted magnetic door stops, she showed us a picture on her computer that looked like this: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ gs100-a2 by Em_Brisbane, on Flickr And we said yes - so she wrote a product code down for us. Stupid us for not checking the product code because we've had twenty odd of THESE stupid things show up (actually similar to this but BIGGER and bulkier): Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ 8156008 by Em_Brisbane, on Flickr They are NOT what we want. Unfortunately we signed off on their product code for colour selections. Common sense dictates that this is NOT what we wanted - for one thing they can't ACTUALLY be installed now because our tiles and carpet are not done until after handover!! If this was actually what we wanted ordered why wasn't that problem raised and how do they plan to overcome it... ?? If they can't supply the door stops we wanted really would just like them returned and credit given (it was bloody $720!) but Plantation are saying their supplier won't take them back because it's not their usual supplier. I said that's interesting because I saw them come in the same box all packaged up with our door handles and cavity door hardware.... I'm most upset by Plantation's attitude. Instead of "let's talk about the issue and see what we can figure out" my admin lady didn't even let me discuss the issue instead saying "I've done the research and this is what you wanted". Gosh she is good at getting my goat that lady. Build thread: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=65085 We already paid for somfy motors for the blinds.
