Browse Forums Building A New House 1 May 28, 2013 9:16 am Hi all
my husband and I are first time builders in Central Queensland. We have been in our smallish 3 bed queenslander for four years now and are after something a bit bigger. There's not a lot of choice in land, but we have put a deposit on a block in one of the new estates. http://i1272.photobucket.com/albums/y395/greeniesbuild/block12_zps865453da.png We're at the stage now of choosing a builder/design. It's pretty exciting but confusing also These are the designs we like- which we have modified a little as well as this one where we would probably swap the kitchen and dining around? and this one where if we had the budget for it we would extend the lounge so it was in line with the garage. Titles for the block are likely to come in August- in the mean time we need to finish fixing our place up and sell it! Re: Greenies build- first timers in CQ 2Jun 14, 2013 8:26 pm Great size block Tina i'm jealous! both are great plans, I definitely like your modified version of the first one best. I love the big open plan living/ kitchen/ dining Re: Greenies build- first timers in CQ 3Jun 20, 2013 11:58 am Meeting with a builder tomorrow- any thoughts on the plan or anything in particular I should discuss? The block purchase is going well, just waiting on settlement/titles, fingers crossed for August. Re: Greenies build- plan? 4Jun 20, 2013 1:20 pm I like the first modified plan best too. Nice and clean lines, straight forward access to all areas and the bedrooms are much more generous sizes. Just wondering what is the aspect of your block and have you considered this in picking your house design? Ideally you would want your living areas facing North and not the bedrooms. Re: Greenies build- plan? 5Jun 20, 2013 2:03 pm The block layout I posted above has north at the top, on the plans north would be on the right handside Re: Greenies build- plan? 6Jun 27, 2013 8:59 pm Just to mix it up I like your modifications of option 2, only thing might be a reasonable carry for shopping. Block orientation would dictate which plan I thought best ultimatly though. Re: Greenies build 7Aug 08, 2013 11:24 am Final plans (not showing correct kitchen layout)

So we'll spend the coming weeks doing all that Re: Greenies build - final plans 8Aug 08, 2013 1:13 pm I love how you moved the kitchen across, good idea! Much better access from the garage and much less throughfare through your family area now. Good luck with selections! Re: Greenies build - final plans 9Aug 16, 2013 3:36 pm I agree, the way your kitchen is positioned now looks awesome and makes your family area look more relaxing. When I saw your first mock up with the door position change to your lounge I was thinking double doors would really set it of, so i'm glad to see you did that in your final design. We also had them put on our design to our master bedroom and to our main living area Re: Greenies build - final plans 11Aug 30, 2013 1:59 pm We've completed our selections, waiting for final quotes and sign off etc (as well as our block to settle). Re: Greenies build - selections 20Nov 29, 2013 3:26 pm Finance all completed, council approval all completed, just waiting on the start date. The plumber is pretty busy apparently, I reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeally hope we can get our slab down before Christmas (but I'm not holding my breath). Thank you so much everyone. This all makes a lot of sense.
