Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Grey Gum Estate Kellyville 482Sep 25, 2014 8:16 am Hi All, Been a while since I've been on. . With all the houses coming up, I though I would say hello to all the new neighbours on here, and with month of September coming to a close, I am pretty sure we will be getting a few moving in the next couple of weeks. I had just noticed this article come up today too, town houses or apartments can be built. http://www.hillsnews.com.au/story/25794 ... lls-mayor/ "Any promotional material used to sell the subdivision was an interpretation only of what might be possible under the zoning for the area"- — Mayor Andrew Jefferies ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Building with Eden Brae, Cremorne 35 in Kellyville Re: Grey Gum Estate Kellyville 483Sep 25, 2014 10:15 am mystro What are people doing in the estate for their external doors? Just aluminum mesh doors in front ? We have a aluminium mesh security door. Kind of sad if you get a nice door and have to cover behind a Mesh door. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Building with Eden Brae, Cremorne 35 in Kellyville Re: Grey Gum Estate Kellyville 484Sep 30, 2014 8:47 am We've paid a bit extra to have our front door fire rated with toughened glass so that we didn't have to have a mesh door covering it up - it just seemed a bit of a waste to pay $1500 for a front door to have it covered up! Just thought you guys might be interested too - we are due to move into our house this weekend, and are in the process of dealing with council re the hardwood/colorbond fencing requirement. We initially had a lot of trouble finding contractors willing to do it, as many said they weren't prepared to put colorbond with a 20 year life span with hardwood that has a 10 year life span, as it effectively halves the life of the fence. Council gave us a few names and we've now had two quotes back, one for $11,500, and the other for $14,500. We're waiting on a third but I'm not convinced it will be any cheaper. We could get plain colorbond for around $5,000, so in our opinion paying an extra $5,000 just for hardwood posts is excessive. The person at Council we've been dealing with is Laurie Doorie; we've been asking how we go about getting the 88B changed, but I don't think Council will budge unless the issue is raised by more than just us (the joys if being the first ones in!). So if you also think this fencing requirement is a little unreasonable (particularly given that most of the fencing won't be visible from the road) it might be worth voicing your concerns with Council about it. Hope your building is going well. We received a letter in the post about the Conciliation Meeting on Wednesday the 8th re the proposed apartment developments; we are planning to attend, and I assume most of you will be there also? Re: Grey Gum Estate Kellyville 485Sep 30, 2014 1:29 pm How exciting you are moving in. Where are you located? Wow that seems pretty pricey for the fences..... Yes we will be attending the meeting on Wednesday the 8th. Hope everyone can make it too. Re: Grey Gum Estate Kellyville 486Oct 01, 2014 10:38 am Yes looking forward to being in! We're located at the end of Regent Honeyeater. We just received our last quote for the fencing, in at close to $15,500. We've had further discussions with Council, and they have maintained that they will not revise the 88B despite the cost to put in the fencing they have mandated. The General Manager of Council Dave Walker has said that any queries or complaints from other owners should be directed to him on 98430478. So if any of you are at the stage where you're looking at fencing and think this sounds excessive too perhaps it might be worth voicing your concerns? Otherwise if you've found a contractor that will do it and the price seems more reasonable would be great if you could post their details here Re: Grey Gum Estate Kellyville 489Feb 12, 2015 6:19 pm There were a few fencing quotes kicking around on the email list late last year. Re: Grey Gum Estate Kellyville 490Feb 12, 2015 7:26 pm Hi, Most of us on the other side ( we are in Fantail Place) went with this company jim@billgibsonfencing.com.au Email them let them know you are from the estate and they should look after you. Re: Grey Gum Estate Kellyville 492Sep 07, 2015 12:14 pm hi, First of all, apologies for jumping into this forum for something a bit unrelated. But since there are all Greygum future residents here, I thought of popping the question in. I was looking towards a new child care centre being planned for Honeyeater Grove, and deciding whether to buy anywhere close to the area. I was informed that a pathway might be encouraged from the end of the Regent Honeyeater grove to connect directly to Withers Road directly to the RH High School, for easy access to the schools, and the Rouse Hill Town Center via the walkway in between the grounds. Have any1 else here heard the same? If it actually happens, the walking time between Regent Honeyeater Grove residents and the Rouse Hill Town Center, and future Metro will be significantly reduced by about 15-20 mins. 3 22633 Petercurtis You able to contact the certifier and get a copy of your structural plans, if they are not in your contract.
