I can see why you would building where you are. I wish I had trees on my block (sigh). On a side note your background to your build is similar to ours. Except my DH isn't a builder but he does run his own business. We also designed our house, it's a true one of a kind, unless someone copies it . It took 5 long months for the unconditional approval. Like you we also had preapproval before we started getting into the "lets build stage" and when it came to the business end it meant nothing. After much jumping through hoops and a lengthly 3 page complaint email we were approved. We stayed with our bank because all the others banks were undervaluing our build. The build has been a dream in comparison to the finance. We are about 6-8 weeks from handover. I just might open up a new post on our build.... I meant to at beginning of build but I'm time poor..... I look forward to seeing more pictures. I had to laugh when you said " the build has been a dream in comparison to the finance" isn't that the truth! How exciting for you, you should start a thread, would love to see some pictures! Re: Our Custom Build on the Coast (NSW) ~ Walls Pic Update 24Oct 08, 2013 11:11 am I have a photo update. Sheets have been hung this week (will be set next week). Here's a sneak peek at the entry/foyer & master bedroom (alcoves in entry will have a down light in each) I really wanted to have a wide & open entry I'm so happy with how it's turned out so far. It's nice to be able to touch the internal walls and walk though the rooms. I just had a look at your thread and left a comment, will enjoy following on Yes, they are niches (no fun for the plasterer lol) it was my husbands choice to put them in. We also have one at the end of the hallway. Will post pictures when the setting is complete (any day now). momomo & AKB - thank you for your kind comments Re: Our Custom Build on the Coast (NSW) ~ Walls Pic Update 33Oct 14, 2013 8:43 am Thanks Acey. Yes, downstairs is garage/shed though, no living. We have stairs coming up into the living area. We have one step down into the living area and a step up into our bedroom just to be abit different and break up the space. Re: Our Custom Build on the Coast (NSW) ~ Tile Delivery (Pic 34Oct 18, 2013 9:44 am So our gyprock/plaster is now complete & our tiles have arrived for the tiler on Monday! Yikes, I'm abit scared. I always choose safe colours (ie. white/beige) but I/we took a plunge and went for all dark bathrooms The tile picture is of the gloss wall tiles and matt floor tiles. Hoping to break it up with the white freestanding bath, white vanities, basins and white towels. The window above the bath has white trim and the ceiling will also be white (we are tiling to the ceiling). I would like to touch those tiles. Do those tiles have a grain on them? They look really impressive. Look forward to pictures. We tiled to 2100mm high (door height) should have gone to ceiling. It makes for a really high end look tiling to ceiling. But we didn't expect our ceilings to be as high as they are 2700. we thought it was going to be 2400 or 2500. It is just one of those things discussed to death at design stage and then the mind blanks it all out. I didn't notice my tile had a grain until after the floors were laid. I thought it was a granite effect, but photos clearly show a grain. GC - Not long now.… in before Christmas:-) The build - https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=67554 The Yard - viewtopic.php?f=19&t=67695 Re: Our Custom Build on the Coast (NSW) ~ Tile Delivery (Pic 36Oct 18, 2013 10:22 am Kiakhan - Yes they do have a grain through them. The wall tiles just feel glossy but the floor tiles have abit of texture/grain to them (if that makes sense). Yeah that's the thing with high ceilings they look great but some things are a pain and add extra cost (they do look great though, no regrets). That's the plan! When are you in? Re: Our Custom Build on the Coast (NSW) ~ Tile Delivery (Pic 37Oct 18, 2013 5:13 pm Our build is planned for completion end of Nov, which is too close to Christmas for me!! Lease on our rental expires 9th Dec. Your tiles sound lovely, bet they are nice to walk on. We chose a brushed stainless tile trim yesterday so I think that's going to look great on the edges. Our ensuite is being done today, will share pictures soon.
