Browse Forums Building A New House 1 May 15, 2013 10:07 pm I need some heellppp please! First time builders here and still waiting on final prices from two builders but I have a question about Dale Alcock's new promo http://media.dalealcock.com.au/big-finishes-promotion/ What is your experience with the carpets and tiles offered by builders in their packages? Are they of a decent quality? Is it cheaper to get these done after the build ourselves? With regards to the kitchen packages, are they worth it? How much is caesarstone if I were to upgrade to it. With the pre-star allowance, how far would $6500 get you? Is it worth getting that and upgrading the relevant items we want rather than getting the kitchen or bathroom packages. So many questions but all your feedback would be fab! Thanks My build thread: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=63960&p=1000857#p1000857 My BLOG: www.buildingmanny.blogspot.com Re: New Dale Alcock promo 2May 16, 2013 11:27 am ive never built with DA but generally builders standard you would upgrade.. thats good DA have brought in a promo.. i would get the aircon, 6.5k upgrade for prestart.. not sure what i would do for the third.. dont know about caesarstone as my qstone benchtop was part of my promo.. goodluck with your decision Home Group WA Monte Carlo Timeline on Page 1 Re: New Dale Alcock promo 3May 17, 2013 5:25 pm I'm currently building with Dale. When we signed there was a 4 for no more package that included flooring (carpets and tiles) - the quality looked good but the choice was a bit lacking. That said it made it easier for us not having such a huge range to pick from but everyones different. I'm not sure how much upgrading to caesar on the lifestyle package is - I think roughly 5-6k depending on if you go 20 or 30mm, we went aspire so it was included and downgraded so got 1k back which we used towards our glass splashback which costs $1700 to upgrade (depending on your size might be more or less) We put caesarstones, high ceilings, air con etc in at the start so at prestart it was roughly about $7k for electrical and another $7k on things like the splashback and upgrading tiles and changing our oven from a 600mm to a 900mm etc. Looking at the new promo I would pick 2, 6 and 7. What choices are you mulling over? https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=64434 Building our own custom design based on the Elwood by Dale Alcock Land settled - November Plans submitted to council - January Prestart - March Slab - 18 September Brickies - 23 October Re: New Dale Alcock promo 4May 19, 2013 2:39 pm Thanks for your feedback guys. I think we will go with 1, 6 & 7 and do our own floors My build thread: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=63960&p=1000857#p1000857 My BLOG: www.buildingmanny.blogspot.com Re: New Dale Alcock promo 5May 19, 2013 3:25 pm I would go 2or3, then 6 & 7. Im not a fan of evaporative air con though Re: New Dale Alcock promo 6May 19, 2013 5:52 pm We are building with DA and just gone through Prestart. I would probably go LED downlighting, 6.5k Prestart, not sure on 3rd maybe painting. The LED down lights are $140 each with dales and we got about 36 which did the whole house except minor bedrooms and toilet. 45 is a really good amount - $6300 worth. We also had 4 for no more package - which included painting, carpets, tiling to living areas, r/c aircon and electrical package. We got a credit for the living areas tiling as we decided to do timber flooring externally and the credit was about $8k if I remember right. It is really good that all dale Alcock homes now come with high ceilings to living areas a standard, we paid over $7k for high ceilings and an extra $1.6k for master suite high ceiling. Hope this info helps with your choice . T Re: New Dale Alcock promo 7May 19, 2013 7:04 pm I would go for the LED lights, painting (ask how many coats they give you and if they allow different colours for feature walls etc) and $6,500 prestart. Are you happy to get evaporative air con? Or would you prefer ducted? Re: New Dale Alcock promo 8May 19, 2013 7:27 pm Evap air con in Perth = waste of time & money. Painting by DAH = waste of time and money as they'll do a shocking job. Go for something where you can actually measure what you've got i.e. 3, 4 and 5 and do the caesarstone in the kitchen at pre-start Re: New Dale Alcock promo 10May 20, 2013 2:56 pm Thanks everyone. They told us to get us we could r/c aircon instead of evaporative as we don't want that and hubby is a sparky so he is going to do the lighting. How often do companies unusually have specials like these? This offer expires at the end of the month. I disagree - I had a look at the 20mm stone and I reckon you can hardly notice the difference, but I guess it would depend on your colour scheme too, if you are going a dark stone then perhaps but if you are sticking with light colours throughout, hardly noticeable. I would say they would do these promos pretty regularly - they always seem to have some kind of promo on. https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=64434 Building our own custom design based on the Elwood by Dale Alcock Land settled - November Plans submitted to council - January Prestart - March Slab - 18 September Brickies - 23 October A person needs to be licensed to offer financial advice.
