Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Goodlife/Gemmil Bravo Build - Roof Carpentry Done! 441Feb 06, 2014 1:30 pm Ahh yep that makes more sense, Otherwise I was going to say the bricks look so uneven! haha! Rendering the whole house isnt exactly the cheapest option! So they build the planter box into the front of your house for you? Or you guys are doing that at a later date? Re: Goodlife/Gemmil Bravo Build - Roof Carpentry Done! 442Feb 06, 2014 2:01 pm Yeah, my other half wouldn't even contemplate having only the front rendered, it was non negotiable for him - it was pretty pricey though haha. I think it was around $2.5K plus $462 for having two colours between the main render and the planter box and blade wall. Adding the blade wall and planter was pretty pricey too I think. But at the end of the day, we want the same wow feeling we get when we look at the display that inspired us to build. Planter box is already in, just below the front bedroom window, along with the blade wall We have based our elevation on this display home, the entrance, the hall way, the mirrors at the end, and all our colour selections like frames, wood floors, walls, light placement etc are also all the same Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Just trolling your thread at the moment Our home building & decorating blog - http://www.rocknsoul.com.au/blog Re: Goodlife/Gemmil Bravo Build - Brickwork done! Pics & Qs. 444Feb 06, 2014 10:31 pm jcbissor Serialbuilder Great to see brickwork done S. Did you end up happy with the master bed layout? Is it all big enough for you? I always find it looks small until you put your furniture in and then you go 'wow that's better than I thought'. The portico is a really nice statement too. Thank you Love the master bed, only last night we were looking through our thread to our first bedroom design (such novices!) wondering how we would possibly manage to have a WIR behind the bed. It looks great! Have taken to it with a tape measure and everything will fit just great. Also sooooo happy we moved the entrance to the activity room to where we did, instead of in the kitchen - kitchen is huge! Thanks we love the portico too JC wants to put that EkoDeck from bunnings under it, so looks like we will be pulling up the paving - should have just got a credit for it - oh well! How is your house going? Are you de-stressed now? We were talking about you last night when we visted the house, JC wants to mount a tv to the wall that backs onto the other bathroom, the shower head wall. I was saying, DO NOT DRILL ANYWHERE NEAR A PIPE. Felt so awful for you when I read about your situation Is it all fixed now? Hope you love your house Hey Sarah, far out just had another closer look. It's amazing what you did from when you first posted. Your house turned out rather huge haha. Well done you, love all the changes. Yes we are a lot more distressed now. The hitting of the water pipe is all but a distant memory. DH does not like to be reminded of it cause it's so unlike him doing stuff like that. Just goes to show how rattled we really were. You should be ok with your tv bracket being on the other side of the wall but I would still make sure I'm either side of the 'problem' area lol. Our home is looking good, I keep trying to take photos of the finished product but keep getting side tracked. One day!! I like our home, DH is still struggling, just too many hassles he can't forget but he will get there. Well he has no choice. I ain't going anywhere, I'm over moving big time and over building even more. No more for this serial builder, 6 is enough it can send you broke and nuts!!! Looking forward to more of your pics. Re: Goodlife/Gemmil Bravo Build - Roof Carpentry Done! 445Feb 07, 2014 5:46 am Oh wow only 2.5 k to render the whole house?? That seems so worth it to me haha! We paid $7700 just to upgrade our facade and to have it rendered, un rendered with the upgraded facade was around the 5k mark! But we don't care the stock standard one was gross!!!! It was just horrible! Both jes and I hated it and we much rrathered having 7k more home loan! But that's definitely one very nice looking house! They just rendered a whole house next to mine and they did it too dark in my opinion and I think it looks a little bit boring, but then again maybe once height their garden in it will probably look better, then the people across the road from my house decided that black render to the front of their house was a good idea, but I honestly am not a fan of it! How big is your master bedroom if you don't mind me asking Re: Goodlife/Gemmil Bravo Build - Brickwork done! How big is your master bedroom if you don't mind me asking I think so, I may be wrong - I will be check tonight, but im sure that's what it was. Yeah exactly if youre going to goto work for pay for something you want to think 'heck yes!' everytime you see it when you come home Black render? Wow. I think that would be, dark, and hot, and dark.. haha. I would have thought there may even be some covenant around that.. it would stick out like a sore thumb! Our bedroom.. WELL.. It was originally 3.3 x 2.6, but we created the WIR which is 1m wide behind the bedhead. So now our actual room space is 2.4 x 2.6.. which I was REALLY worried about because it looked tiny on the plan, but now that we can stand in it, its big enough. All clothes related cr@p can be out of sight behind the bed in the WIR so there isn't really much need for anything else, except a tv on the wall I guess we have sacrificed space there to have a large double ensuite (never shared a bathroom with him before - this will be a new experience - ive always taken the spare one in the rentals we've been in haha!!) and to have a study, larger kitchen, activity room and a theatre. I know the picture cant tell you much but it might have some perspective.. Then they will peg it out, then you should slabbage pretty damn soon We got to our block last night and there were kids running through the house throwing stuff at our bricks. JC told them to rack off. Haha. We're making SO MANY FRIENDS! hahaha. I screwed up! Thanks to SB for pointing it out - my brain must be absent today - our master bedroom is now 3.4 x 3.6 - sorry to confuse you! The blonde in me had a mega measuring fail on not ratio correct paper, haha. And yeah our render was def $2500 Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Our home building & decorating blog - http://www.rocknsoul.com.au/blog Re: Goodlife/Gemmil Bravo Build - Roof Carpentry Done! 454Feb 08, 2014 8:26 pm I was going to say that was a bloody small bedroom haha!!! Yeah it will be big enough for us, our current rental's bedroom is huge and it's a lot of empty wasted space. Our home building & decorating blog - http://www.rocknsoul.com.au/blog Re: Goodlife/Gemmil Bravo Build - SS Meeting & Brick Thief! 458Feb 10, 2014 12:24 pm Id go over there and confront them saying you've spoken with SS and you were not given permission. Ask for them back as you need them. Otherwise ask for them to pay for them (look up cost of a stack on brikmakers) If they are then rude about it say ok tried to be nice about it, expect a $3k fine If you let them get away with it they will think its ok, and who knows what they may help themselves too in the future Re: Goodlife/Gemmil Bravo Build - SS Meeting 459Feb 10, 2014 2:44 pm Yeah I think we might tonight, we're using those bricks to make our BBQ - already got the provision for gas and water there so its not like we're saying no just to be difficult. Also, we were talking about our driveway this morning, and it curves to the right - would they have done this because of a specific reason? There is a sewer lid somewhere around there but not close enough to not have driveway straight. We never really thought about it until today, and would rather it go straight down.. Is it too late to change this? Does anyone have any recommendations for the best value decking oil (Bunning is close to where I live) for a treated pine deck? Thanks 0 1290 DIY, Home Maintenance & Repair That laser level looks lovely! We bought one for less than a quarter of that price off eBay. It worked really well for us and it's still going now, five years later. After… 1 13298 It's possible but a soak well is usually much larger. Your 'soak well' only holds 424 litres when full. What is your soil type? Soak wells need sandy soils. 10 6175 |
