Good request Paula! Happy at Home Re: Building the "Cascade" (photo updates) 63Jul 28, 2008 9:57 pm Visited site over the weekend kitchen cabinets now appear to be finished except for the ceasar stone benchtops, sinks, tapware and appliances. It appears that the overheads at one end of kitchen are incorrect, they should have glass inserts rather than solid doors. We will be meeting SS on site on Friday to discuss this. Architrves & skirting boards nearly completed. Painters should commence later this week.
Still having to take photos through dirty windows so quality is still poor. Visited site on Friday and met with SS to discuss progress and some concerns regarding cabinets. Overhead cabinets in first picture were supposed to have glass fronts & shelves so they could be used for display purposes. SS will get on to cabinet makers and get them changed. Other than this we are very happy with kitchen cabinets so far. SS says it will be 4-5 weeks before caesar stone bench tops are installed. WIR have been delivered and one has been installed. While we were on site the painter arrived to confirm where we are having our feature walls and that he had the colour schedule correct. He will start painting this week and expects to take about 3 weeks. Before we left I asked SS when we might expect the house to be ready for handover. He said that realistically it is probably about 10 weeks away!!! This will take us well into October. I honestly never knew such a thing existed! Our new house comes with two ovens (which we will never use... but thats another story), I might investigate this steam oven of yours! Thanks! Re: Building the "Cascade" (photo updates) 71Aug 21, 2008 12:33 am Well it's been two weeks since we have added any posts, this has been because there has been very little visible action. For the last week the painters have been in and have apparently completed all the walls and ceilings, the rest of this week they expect to finish all the fiddly bits such as eaves, skirting boards, architraves and feature walls.
We originally asked and paid for 6 feature walls (1 x living area, 1 x Home theatre, 1 x Lounge, 1 x Master bedroom and 2 x Main entrance) all in just a matt finish. Since then we have asked the painter to add a further 4 feature walls (3 x Home theatre and 1 x master bedroom) he will also upgrade to a suede finish on Living area, Lounge and Master bedroom. Other work done since the last post includes vanity unit in garage toilet, WIR completed (unfortunately no pictures as yet), extra bulkheads in kitchen and doors/servery window/ceiling in alfresco have been stained. SS said that he is getting the tiles organised this week and tiling should commence next week. A site visit yesterday found a lone painter still plodding away. So far only the Home Theatre (Deep Indian Red), front entrance (Bronco Brown) features walls have been completed. They have put the wrong colour in the lounge room so will now have to redo it. We had been told all painting would be completed by last Friday but as yet eaves around canopy, Master bedroom and living area feature walls are not done. Hopefully all will be done by the end of this week. Aam visited site today after painter called to say all the feature walls were finished. All painters still need to do are skirting boards in several rooms, they are expecting to finish up completely on Sunday. All I can say is The attention to detail is outstanding. Beautiful cabinetry throughout the house in particular the kitchen and WIR. Your colours are stunning and you have personalised your house so beautifully. This is definately one of my favourite houses on the forum. You must be very proud of your selections. Cant wait to see your choice of tiles and flooring. Looking forward to more updates Mrs B 1. Roof cleaning and paint - which colour do you recommend?
