My Build, viewtopic.php?f=31&t=64837 Re: Burns Beach Build Content-Living 83Mar 20, 2014 3:35 pm So we have finally got our slab down but not all is rosy. some how someone has made a mistake with the measurements and the slab is now too small at the front of the house. I'm going to meet with the site supervisor and see what he prepossess to do, but i was under the impression that the slab must be laid as one piece so that there is no mechanical bonds in the concrete. i will update when I know whats happening. Has anyone else had any slab problems. My Build, viewtopic.php?f=31&t=64837 Re: Burns Beach Build Content-Living 85Mar 24, 2014 3:45 pm Geez- I hope it is sorted quickly for you. Re: Burns Beach Build Content-Living 86Mar 24, 2014 6:25 pm How awful! Have you had any more word about how they are going to fix it? My build: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=68002 Re: Burns Beach Build Content-Living 87Mar 25, 2014 11:33 am Yep. Spoke to them yesterday. Apparently they drill steel rods into the side of the existing slab and put more footings down. Then when they pour the new bit the steel rods tie the 2 slabs together. As it's only 2 sections of 1/2 meter by 4 meters I'm quite happy with that repair. I think if they were any bigger than that I would of been insisting they redo the whole slab. My Build, viewtopic.php?f=31&t=64837 Re: Burns Beach Build Content-Living 88Mar 25, 2014 11:36 am Oh and so they don't get behind whilst they wait for the repair they have still gone ahead with the external plumbing run in. I'm on the mobile phone at the moment so will post slab photos later. My Build, viewtopic.php?f=31&t=64837 Re: Burns Beach Build Content-Living 89Mar 25, 2014 11:54 am *phew* thank goodness. How stressful for you though. Good to hear they are still able to keep moving forward. Re: Burns Beach Build Content-Living 90Mar 25, 2014 12:34 pm Sounds like what I would expect them to do. Glad they are keeping up with other things. My build: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=68002 Re: Burns Beach Build Content-Living 91Mar 27, 2014 2:09 pm Photo time. Nothing like exposing yourself when you use the toilet. Because the floor of the room next to the front door position is about half a meter to short my front door has been positioned to far left. Slab should be fixed by the time I post this though. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Shows the position of the pipes more clearly. Re: Burns Beach Build Content-Living 98Mar 31, 2014 8:30 pm Welcome to the thread Lewis. The slab repair has been done to a satisfactory level. I am pleased with how content_living has handled it. I hope this is the only hiccup we have though. Fingers crossed everyone. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ And our electrics has been run in as well. It was nice to see that they still continued with the other jobs whilst waiting for the repair.
