Browse Forums Building A New House 1 May 16, 2013 11:19 am Anyone put one of these in during the build, or even after? What provisions do we need to make if we'd like to put one in? We're at framing stage currently, could be too late. The spot we've picked is most likely an internal wall, if possible. I'll probably email that Heat n Glo company but just thought I'd ask people here. They also require a power switch next to the unit so power to the unit can be switched off. Re: Gas Fireplace 3May 16, 2013 1:19 pm Thanks for the reply, I will look into that My Hamptons build (completed): viewtopic.php?f=31&t=63370 Moved in Wednesday 11th Dec 2013 Front landscaping completed June 2016 Re: Gas Fireplace 4May 16, 2013 2:58 pm We are planning to do exactly that cinder - a gas fireplace after handover. We've made provision for a capped gas line in the wall of the fireplace location and power as well. Then it's a simple matter of the fitout and flue installation down the track. We are just about ready to finalise plans, must be because it is getting cold again outside (well as cold as qld can be haha). Sorry to hijack the thread but for people who have installed one (or a provision for one) how much did it cost? And where would be a good spot to plan for one? To have a capped gas line put in our wall as part of the build cost us $190. Can't remember how much we were paying for extra powerpoints in addition to the standard number that was included - but it wasn't a great amount per extra double powerpoint. As for placement, I'd go external wall simply for the fact that it much easier to take the flue of the heater straight out from the gas heater through the wall rather than having to run it all the way up an internal wall and out through the roof. Hi all, My first post, we are building a house and can’t decide the layout of the lounge room. We have a large N/W facing window and are wanting to have a wood slow… 0 11133 No the fireplace doesn’t work. It’s been enclosed. I’m not sure what was removed, as it was done quite some time ago - well before what I can see with photos online… 2 9114 I would probably render it and then paint it as per your other advice, or gyrpock over the top. 1 925 |
