The lights look great. Once it's all done you'll have to show us a photo at night with the lights on! Re: Re: SR's KDR/custom build (Lara) - Vinyl planks 102Sep 10, 2014 10:42 am Aw that sucks that your lights were stolen! I would have been upset too. Lights are looking great now though, love the kitchen pendants! Re: Re: SR's KDR/custom build (Lara) - PCI Monday 21st! 103Sep 21, 2014 3:23 pm Super quick update while I inhale a coffee The big news is that we have our PCI tomorrow afternoon After weeks of being in limbo, I've felt a lot more settled since Wednesday when the builder spoke to DH and booked it in - I can handle a date that's a long way off, it's the not knowing that was killing me. He's confident that unless something goes very pear-shaped, we can have handover on Friday. He's already given us the final invoice so hopefully the bank won't hold us up. We know there's a missing powerpoint from one end of the kitchen island and the gas meter hasn't yet been done - DH spoke to the gas company last week and they expected it to be done by Friday so we'll be chasing that up tomorrow. Our lights have all been installed but I'll have to wait until tomorrow to get photos of the bathrooms. The builder's partner does the clean and she's doing it tomorrow morning so they should look good (probably the best they ever will ) Front lights. I'm not thrilled with the downpipe being there but it is what it is. If we'd realised that's where it was going to be, we would have considered putting the lights either side of the garage door or on the render instead of here, or maybe downlights in the eaves. Oh well *shrug* Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Backyard battens - I was expecting the ones that stick straight out at 90º so I can live with these for a while. Once we put in a deck/patio/alfresco, we'll likely change them to something else though. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Pendants in a cleaner kitchen Will definitely have to post pictures of them and the under-cabinet LEDs on at night! Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Facade - the render's had another coat to finish it off. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ This week our carpet went in. I honestly couldn't remember what we'd picked over a year ago Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Our moving truck is booked in for two weeks' time - that will give us a week or so to seal the grout and garage floor, put up blinds and batten fix light shades, get the TV aerial and clothesline up, etc, before moving in properly. I've got a couple of tubs already packed for the "essentials" while we do those jobs: coffee-making stuff (will have to make to with instant - my machine will move in when I do!), toilet paper, soap, towel, etc. And now I'm trying to pack our stuff here and just wandering around in circles wondering where on earth we're going to put it all as well as everything that's been in storage for the last year. ~ Anne I used to be indecisive but now I'm not quite sure. Photos look great and so exciting that it's all happening for you. Lots to do before the move. You'll need more than instant coffee Re: SR's KDR/custom build (Lara) - Waiting for handover 105Sep 24, 2014 7:19 pm We had our PCI on Monday and it went really well. We had our independent inspector there as well and while he picked up a few issues, none were enough to send us over the edge - mainly things that are quick and easy to fix like the top and bottom of doors not painted, some silicone needed around the external powerpoint, etc. There were bags of insulation in the roof that hadn't yet been installed and the sparky had done a bit of butchering of the cabinet next to the dishwasher but they were probably the biggest issues. He even complimented the builder and said it was overall a good build and a nice change to not be picking up major issues. We only picked up two things that weren't quite right from a non-standards perspective - one of the kitchen island powerpoints was missing and the pantry light didn't work. We had a chat to our builder and when he asked if we were keen to get in ASAP, we just grinned and of "Of course we are!" He said the main thing that would hold us up would just be the scheduling of everyone in to get the rectifications done. The gas meter installers turned up just as we were leaving so that's one less thing to worry about now and the bank's valuer was there yesterday. I drove past late this afternoon and they've been working hard. All the blue tape marking paint touchups has been removed (sop hopefully it means that's been done). The site has been scraped (luckily I wore my gardening clogs as I ended up with a full inch of clay stuck to the bottom of them!) and our rangehood and dishwasher are now in. The builder's clean has been done - it was his partner doing it (she enjoys it apparently LOL) and she did a great job by the look of it - I hadn't realised just how filthy the windows were until I walked past one and my reflection caught my eye because I'd never seen it there before. The only thing we can really see from outside is that the flyscreens still need to be fitted. We've got everything crossed for handover Friday or even Saturday but we'll just have to wait and see. ~ Anne I used to be indecisive but now I'm not quite sure. Re: Re: SR's KDR/custom build (Lara) - Handover tomorrow!! 111Sep 25, 2014 10:55 pm Congratulations SR. So excited for you. Re: Re: SR's KDR/custom build (Lara) - Handover and pics 112Sep 28, 2014 6:08 pm Handover Friday was quick and simple - confirmed the rectifications were done, handed over the cheque, had a bit of a chat to the builder and it was done and dusted. Keys! Hamper with a bottle of bubbly, bath salts/shower gel/lotion, chocolates and two towels. The hampers are made up by the colour consultant so she knew what was going to match our selections! I had to work from midday - 5 and then 7:30-10:30 (last day before three weeks off) so focus and motivation weren't exactly my strengths on Friday LOL We pick up our moving truck next Sunday and are spending this week doing various jobs: sealing grout, painting the garage floor, putting up batten light shades, clothesline, TV aerial, etc, We're not getting the driveway done for a couple of weeks and even a little drizzle means you end up with an inch of clay stuck to the bottom of your boots so DH has been busy putting down some makeshift paths out of crushed rock. Some photos - I'll add some more later in the week and once we've got furniture in. Photos of empty bedrooms and lounge rooms are, not surprisingly, extremely boring and pretty much identical LOL Redishades (black in master on the right, "latte" (brown paper) on the lounge and study) up until our blinds arrive (sunscreens should be this week, blockout fabric on back order for a few weeks) I'll get a photo at night at some stage Entry light from Bunnings- as the sole (human) female I needed at least a little bit of bling! Must be a great feeling We were lucky in that our old house was so small (86 square metres) compared to the new house, they were able to take enough readings around the old backyard house before… 8 37139 The biggest challenge will be if you take out a loan and then run out of money - you'll have an incomplete security and lenders do not like this so you can get stuck.… 2 19096 Hi, I am looking into doing a KDR in Melbourne and am contemplating using Kialla Homes. I am looking for feedback on them from others who have built with them. 0 13442 |
