Browse Forums Building A New House 1 May 15, 2013 4:41 pm Hi all, About to give PD the flick and go with CH. just wanting some advice n this floor plan please http://www.carlislehomes.com.au/find-a- ... ery/search We need a enclosed study/guest room,,so I'm thinking. Could convert the lounge area. It's quite big, 2.9 x 4.2 so was thinking I could use some as a mud/store room. How wide do you think this room needs to be? Should this room have a standard door opening or cavity? I think cavity. Inside I would just get melamine shelves to 3/4 of one of the long walls, the other 1/4 being a shelf with hanging rail for coats etc. what type of doors shall I get to the study? Normal flush panel, double opening or cavity? Thanks for any input, would be much appreciated Cheers Building the Porter Davis Dunedin 29 maybe, thinking of forfeiting deposit and going with CH or UE Re: Advice on floor plan changes please 2May 15, 2013 4:58 pm You'll juuust fit a queen-sized bed & a pair of bedside tables (as long as your bedside tables aren't too wide) in 2.9m x 3m; guests will be squeezed-in tight, but they're not there long & will survive. I can't see the plan you allude to, but the remaining 1.2m will have to partially include some closet-space for the guests; and there also has to be room for a door to open into that 2.9m x 3.0m space (I'm actually thinking you might need the whole 2.9 x 4.0 for this room). Re: Advice on floor plan changes please 3May 15, 2013 5:07 pm Thanks so much for your reply! When I say guests, I mean Nanna coming to stay the night to watch the kids while hubby and I have a date night. Now, this hasn't happened in the 8 yrs since our first was born, so can't be sure when it will actually happen lol Was thinking a daybed and desk really Building the Porter Davis Dunedin 29 maybe, thinking of forfeiting deposit and going with CH or UE Re: Advice on floor plan changes please 4May 15, 2013 10:55 pm Just bumping for the night owls Building the Porter Davis Dunedin 29 maybe, thinking of forfeiting deposit and going with CH or UE Re: Advice on floor plan changes please 5May 16, 2013 1:34 pm Well, 2.9x3m or there about will give you a comfortable - although not massive - bedroom for a single bed and you could put a double in there ok. The remaining 2.1 (take .1 out for the wall) could be cut in half for a WIR and coat cupboard/mudroom/hall storage. Each would be about 2.1x1.4, which is just enough to work. Think about furniture placement in the bedroom though. HD Land settled May '14.
