We were sold when we walked in to a show home and noticed finger prints and grease marks in three separate areas - kitchen, laundry and a series of drawers the sales person kept all their flyers in. It looks great when it's perfectly clean but we're not convinced we'd necessarily have the time/motivation to keep it that way! I will take photos and see if the fingerprints are annoying or not. In the licorice linea you cannot see finger prints. In the malt, you can ever so slightly see them, but the malt cupboards are the upper cupboards and it is the angle I look at them (I am short) Modified Fernside 38 Rawson Homes Blog: http://www.thehousethatmatandjenbuilt.blogspot.com Build Thread: https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=60501 Re: New silk finish on laminex cupboards 7Sep 08, 2013 12:11 pm We are having Formica gloss finish in snowdrift for overhead cupboards, and just the standard finish in snowdrift for the bottom cupboards/draws. Easier to keep the gloss clean as it's out of reach from kids/pets plus I have only really noticed gloss cupboards that are at eye level, didn't feel the need to make the bottom cupboards gloss too. Re: New silk finish on laminex cupboards 10Sep 08, 2013 11:49 pm We have silk finish in polar white. I can see finger marks on the pantry. The rest of our kitchen is draws and I don't notice the marks on them, it may also be they are all below eye level so wouldnt notice them as easily. I think it is the location of the pantry and the way the light hits it.... We haven't actually moved in yet but hoping a wipe with the enjoy will keep them pretty clean! Very happy with the colour and shine We had the standard in a brownish colour in our last rental and that was a fingerprint/grease magnet! And it was so hard to get them off! I am hoping the smoothness of the silk will make wiping them off much easier! Re: New silk finish on laminex cupboards 11Sep 09, 2013 1:04 pm fmac We have silk finish in polar white. Particularly, the pantry and the overhead cupboards, the fingerprints an greasy marks when the sun hit was incredible. Who would have thought a dark brown wood look natural laminate would look so grotty so easily? and so hard to get clean? I have gone with a polar white polygloss and hoping that the smoothness will make cleaning easier but I don't really care either way cause they look so pretty I will be happy to scrub the marks away lol Building the Leabrook with Fairmont Homes in Mallala, SA.
