You must be so super excited to see so much progress. Re: _lucinda's house 364Oct 25, 2013 1:01 pm hachy looks great lucinda fair enough re the shelf under bench. i personally would find it a pain in the bum cos i put a bin and cleaning stuff under there but each to their own. Thanks, hachy. I do like how it looks. Still can't help but think slow and steady might be preferable though! Regarding the shelf, good point, I've not ever thought to put a bin or bucket under the sink or tub, probably because I've always had a shelf, but maybe that's what I'll do instead of having shelves fitted. Re: _lucinda's house 365Oct 25, 2013 5:43 pm Hey Lucinda, That is where I have my bin and also I brought a black bin from Ikea and put all the cleaning gear and dishwasher tabs in so they are all together. It is nice and tidy too. The bin is in a handy spot for all the rubbish from cooking etc. Unfortunately I didn't have room for a built in bin My son and his fiance's build viewtopic.php?f=31&t=66084 24/7 Slabbed 30/7 Framed 05/8 Gutters 08/8 Roof & windows 31/8 gyprock, bricks, cornice 3/9 Lock up 8/11 In Re: _lucinda's house 367Oct 25, 2013 9:45 pm I like the size of your windows in family area and in the bedroom. It's good to have a lot of natural light which you can always block out if you need to. It creates more space Our build thread: https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=60755 Re: _lucinda's house 368Oct 29, 2013 10:18 am Looking very niiiiice, Lucinda I really adore that bay window (and I like it without the extra windows too), it adds a really good shape to the outside of the house - and i'll bet it looks beautiful inside too. Your kitchen diner looks pretty big, that should look great as things like cupboards and benches go in. You must be at, or close to, lockup by now? I don't know when lockup comes; they were putting cornices in yesterday and I expect will be finishing that soon. Re: _lucinda's house 370Oct 31, 2013 7:56 am Package arrived yesterday--door frames I think. Cornices not finished--looks like they ran out of material. Re: _lucinda's house 371Nov 01, 2013 7:20 pm Cornices--still not finished, but almost (think they might have run out of material)

That render will look great when its all painted up... Embarassing story: on my first build, I was convinced that was the final render colour (supposed to be Classic cream) and rung the builder asking what had happened and why my cream render was a light brown?! Uh yeah, it had to be painted. Silly me acted like a bit of an a$$hat that day! Went by and saw a plumber's van. Oooh, thought I, what plumbing is being done? Later in the day, went back, plumber still there but van on the other side of the house. Went into the house to take a measurement. Imagine my surprise, shock, to see a huge hole in our beautiful slab--I mean a hole right through it, top to bottom, from one side of the passageway to the other. Asked to speak to someone who knows what the implications are but, as always, it's difficult to get past the front office staff. Not happy! Imagining the scenario when a new road is built and a few weeks or so later they dig it up--the lovely smooth surface is never the same, the structure compromised and an obvious place for problems to occur over time.
