Browse Forums Building A New House Re: _lucinda's house 82Jun 06, 2013 10:20 am That sounds great Lucinda... it'll blend in really well with the house. With your bricks and your roof, it will look like a natural extension rather than tacked on if it was another colour all together. And it'll be unique by the sounds of it too! We took well over our allocated time with selections also, is worth the patience given the importance of the decisions. Checking, checking, checking. Nothing is a big shock so looking okay. Bit confused though that some things appear to be quoted as retail price with nothing taken off for the standard cost that's already included. Is that the builder's markup--the cost of the standard? Re: _lucinda's house 86Jun 11, 2013 12:51 pm great to hear things are not too expensive, not too sure how it works with upgrade costs and builders mark up etc. our oven and stove were cheaper through hickies but we didnt get anything back in credit so i think they have added the price on top of the one already included. Re: _lucinda's house 87Jun 11, 2013 2:28 pm hachy sounds great lucinda. how much roughly are your invisigaurd doors costing? i know zubs sounded costly but i think your doors sound like the same as mine, think zub had more doors. Single door, e.g. a front door, $660; sliding glass doors, $970. Re: _lucinda's house 88Jun 11, 2013 5:38 pm Thanks, hachy. Do you mean cheaper through Hickies than if you sourced the items yourselves? I don't think anything on my list is cheaper than retail. Re: _lucinda's house 90Jun 11, 2013 11:27 pm zub13 I love the open pergolas, they look very nice. My dad had one. You wouldn't happen to have a photo, would you Zub? Re: _lucinda's house 92Jun 16, 2013 9:52 pm _lucinda Have checked the council site--nothing for us yet. There are a few double storeys listed, and a couple of single, but not us yet. When we move, yes, we'll be permanently in Adelaide. My dog is a Maltese X (poodle we think, but we adopted him from the RSPCA so can't be sure). One of those "silly little white things", not the one in my avatar picture. i am not sure that my council has something like yours where you can check and see what houses are listed, what exactly do you have to type in/look for? Re: _lucinda's house 94Jun 17, 2013 1:12 pm thanks lucinda, definately couldn't find one in our council, bugger. would be nice to be nosey and see what the neighbours are building Re: _lucinda's house 95Jun 21, 2013 6:33 pm Ending the week with two great milestones. We've made it onto the Council development application tracking website. It shows Planning Decision Completed! Target date for approval is 1 July. And we've given the okay to finalise the price list for the colour selection upgrades. Next I think is to receive the list in writing, match it against what we think we've spent, and sign to approve everything. Then it's over to the builders. Happy beginning to the weekend.
