Re: _lucinda's house 262Sep 12, 2013 3:04 pm Thank you so much for joining me in the party Metroid, joane, FairmontSAcustom, deluxes, Davelle, hachy and zoewenham13. Pictures, I have pictures. Looking at the front, towards the back. Can you believe, graffiti on the portaloo. (Hope it came with it and wasn't defaced on my plot.) http://i86.photobucket.com/albums/k107/jjzs/samples/slab2_zps80ba6b2c.jpg Closer view. http://i86.photobucket.com/albums/k107/jjzs/samples/slab7_zps76bee562.jpg From the back, with the bay I wish we had had taken out at the beginning. I can live with it! http://i86.photobucket.com/albums/k107/jjzs/samples/slab5_zps4303535f.jpg My garden! http://i86.photobucket.com/albums/k107/jjzs/samples/slab4_zps2c9f98ee.jpg It looks bigger than I thought it would; it looks higher than I thought it would; it looks magnificent, which I thought it would; and I love it. My sister tells me the railway station has platforms! I think it is scheduled to open this month. Woo hoo, I will have wheels! Re: _lucinda's house 263Sep 12, 2013 3:13 pm slab looks great lucinda, i thought it looked rather high looking at the pics too. is there a reason for it being high do you know? Re: _lucinda's house 266Sep 12, 2013 3:29 pm Lucinda, Scott's slab looks really high as well, so I wonder why that is?? His seems to sit a lot higher than both of the neighbours. A lot of filling in I think is required. The height coming out from the laundry looks so high I think it needs a step and this will interfere with the athway as he only has 1 metre from the wall to the fence and won't be able to get a wheelbarrow down the side to access the back. So I am not quite sure what will be done there. Thank you for sharing! Our slab is high too, not a problem other than that you may have to bring soil in so all one level, if you want that and maybe higher fencing. Re: _lucinda's house 269Sep 12, 2013 5:40 pm Looks amazing. Very exciting time. Won't be a slab for long! Re: _lucinda's house 271Sep 12, 2013 8:27 pm your slab look gorgeous!!! conslabulations!! Congratulations!!!! Re: _lucinda's house 274Sep 13, 2013 11:27 pm Congrats on the slab Lucinda. Look forward to seeing some frames Building the Leabrook with Fairmont Homes in Mallala, SA. Hachy, no idea why so high. Perhaps because they are not doing the perimeter concrete? We've going for paving blocks and stepping stones through the landscaper. Whether that is a factor or not though, really don't know. Joane, that's a pain, if an extra step has to be put in after handover. FairmontSAcustom--hope we don't have to build the soil up--the land is pretty much flat and if we build up we'll go above the level of the neighbouring block. This will have to be a "wait and see what happens" thing. Maybe I need to investigate parachutes to take me from the house down to earth level. AmyMumma23, Davelle, LeanneR, Amancharmar, beach build, RagnarsWife, Pannacotta, zub13, tasha_is_clueless, yes, exciting indeed. I'm like a kid at Christmas. I want to go down there to see it--but that's out of the question. We hope to get there just before the next progress payment. We got the first bill today, and the next will be walls and roof frame--probably not long away if everyone else's builds are anything to go by. Wonder if the timber and bricks have been delivered yet. Oh, and FairmontSAcustom, I've decided I do love my brick. I've had the samples sitting outside in the rain (yes, we've had lots) and sun (yes, we've had lots) and dust storms (yes, a few) and even some hail, and the Austral ones just keep looking better and better. The PGH is nice, but I like the Austral better and will pretend the base isn't red at all (can't wait to see the actual bricks for real). Re: _lucinda's house 276Sep 16, 2013 7:55 pm I have checked out the bricks every time I go, thinking of you and I really can only see it throwing red in the full sun. Otherwise they look like chocolate bars, yum. Glad you are getting some brick love.
Our slab is higher than the neighbours, we get a lovely view of their garden We will be extending the fence height to give them some privacy. I was at st clair shopping today. The estate is really coming along. Re: _lucinda's house 277Sep 16, 2013 9:06 pm We'll all just pretend that none of our bricks are red based and we'll all be happy together! Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Always hard to tell from a photo, but the bricks look like they are on a grey rather than red base. Could just be the light, but Austral said they liaise with Hickies and if they could find enough on the grey base they would reserve them for my job. Either way I'm happy, but if they are grey, woo hoo, how's that for service! My sister said they look chocolately/black. If they are chocolate, hope it's Old Gold and not Dairy Milk. You’re on the right track, wire brush in a grinder then a zinc rich epoxy primer then a top coat of some sort, like a waterproofing membrane. Raising the concrete would… 1 7031 How good is Simeon?! Always taking time to help others out! Wish we were building in NSW and could work together. Thanks for all that you do! 7 6564 Really tight at the top of the stairs- how to get furniture into those rooms? Study books - does anyone really use them these days? Large storage closet would be more functional. 2 6884 |
