Building A New House
May 10, 2013 7:41 pm
I am starting a thread, mainly to keep track of my choices etc. I don't expect anyone to trawl through it but would love input from anyone that feels the urge!
Building a PD Montrose with 4th bedroom and alfresco, with one bedroom being converted into an open study.
Exterior colours are likely to be
Austral Ash Bricks
Surfmist garage door
Woodland grey gutter
Gunmetal roof tiles
Walnut stained timber windows and front door
Elevation completed by the fabulous D@n:
Plan - we have made bedroom 3 into an open study and moved the wall in line with the edge of the linen cupboard on the other side
Land-ready to settle, We will have a date soon...

Internally, leaning towards Blackbutt 2 strip engineered boards in living areas, Braewood Basalt carpets in bedrooms, Laminex white silk finish kitchen, French Nougat essastone benches, Flokati walls
**** Colours have changed a bit from these options, see below!
To the right of the timber is the laminate bench in laundry and pantry on the bottom and bathroom cabinets on top (burnished wood), which is hard to see. French Nougat essastone to bathrooms too. Tiles will be floor to ceiling, Como white gloss 600 x 600

Colours are looking good meowsy
It's really hard to imagine it altogether even with all the samples. Have you changed your mind or did you have a good idea of what you wanted when you started? I have made a few changes after finding out prices myself

Thanks Back Pocket! Yes, it is isn't it... at least with the exterior I can get the visuals done!
We have changed our minds a few times, cost was definitely a factor for some items....off to Hopetoun this morning. They are probably sick of me by now (but have been all lovely and helpful- which is more than I can say for my broker. grrrr)

Beautiful beautiful beautiful! Love the exterior! Personally, I prefer the lighter wood floor, as in that's what I'd choose for our house. What floor is it?
Building the Porter Davis Dunedin 29 maybe, thinking of forfeiting deposit and going with CH or UE

Hi, welcome! I love your selections, please give us an update ASAP! Very exciting! I love jasper as a render colour, we just changed our feature points on the facade to jasper and we adore it. Loving the carpet too, looks plush

Looking great meowsy the Montrose is a great house. We went for the 4th bedroom and alfresco also.. Skylight is a great idea for the toilet/bathroom wish we thought of that!
We used that same bedroom as a study too but we didn't remove the wall ok ours. We didn't really change much to be honest, made the fridge space a bit bigger, added plenty of power and data points and niches in the showers.

Claire, good point. We have gone for a decorative skirting, but Berwick wasn't an option. We went for colonial. I have a cleaner, so I will just make sure she gives them a good going over every now and then. The reason we went for something decorative is that we are going to have scotia painted in winter mushroom to match the trim, rather than stained to match the floor. I have seen some pictures and it looks quite nice to have a small quad or scotia with a decorative skirting...
Kaykens, thanks for the input, I think Jasper does look really nice as render. I think the carpet was very good for a Cat 2 carpet- we have a toddler so a dark carpet was a bit of a must. Carpet will only be in the 3 bedrooms.
Wateman, the fridge space does need to be made bigger doesn't it. Did you lose much space elsewhere?
More photos coming shortly, have just put them on photobucket.....

In this photo you can see wall colour- Winter Mushroom and skirting- colonial, which we will be painting and having installed our own quad in a smaller profile painted to match skirting

Blinds- I love the fabrics- most will be double rollers. They will all have black aluminium pelmets and bottom rail and chain. The charcoal blockout looks a bit darker than this IRL.
Close up picture of the fabric for the light filtering blind
I loved the look of some of the blinds you can see in some of the PD displays and on the website with the contrasting trim and textured fabric. (I have put a deposit on the blinds already) edit- these are the blinds in one of the PD displays
