Browse Forums Building A New House 1 May 08, 2013 10:08 pm We have a fixed price on our site works, albeit when they recently did the cut we had to get rid of the soil that was not 'clean fill' cost. We were aware this was excluded. Subbies that cut the site offloaded it for us at about $40/tonne. Our question relates to the Builder electing to maintain using our temp fencing around the site and further we have also arranged the clean fill to be offloaded to a friend than having to dump it. Thus Builder I assume will be saving costs on temp fencing plus dumping some 80tonne of clean fill.......what is the chance we will get anything back, as it is a HIA Fixed Price contract I guess the Builder wins from our good deeds.......... Anyone think there is a way to recoup some of the savings?? Or just put it down to creating Goodwill....... Oh wow, I think you've been ripped off there! That was for disposing of fill that was full of vegetation and rubbish such as bricks, irrigation, concrete and more bricks all of which was under the sub-surface and left behind by the Vendors crew that did the demolition.....we would have jumped up and down if they were trying that price on for clean fill !!! Clean fill I was advised at one local waste disposal centre was $10/tonne, then you would get hit with cartage on top !! I hope $40/tonne was fair and reasonable as had it confirmed by two other providers that they would not look at the removal and disposal for that price........
