Browse Forums Building A New House 1 May 08, 2013 9:44 pm Hi My wife and I are nearing the end of our build in Canberra. We have been given the below plans for the wardrobe in the Master bedroom and the same design for each of our other bedrooms. https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B0TI-ajjNDGkTnhFS2lkWjFKeEU/edit?usp=sharing We are not sure these designs are the best options but not sure what would be best. We do feel the layout for the WIR in the master is not making best use of the space. Any thoughts, recommendations or pictures welcome. Cheers Ken Re: Wardrobe Options 2May 08, 2013 10:15 pm My 2c worth...... I think when designing a WIR you try any minimise blank wall space. Unfortunately your plan has an almost fully blank wall opp. "A" lets call it "C". Is it too late to move the door toward “A” so you can get at least some narrow shelving on wall “C” (300mm deep or so)? Or....raise the top shelf of one of the built-ins by 250-300mm and have a high hanging rail and a mid-height hanging rail – double up the available hanging space for shorter items like shirts but leave the other one for dresses, long coats, etc. but not sure what and how much stuff you want to put on the top shelf though... ----------------------------------------------- http://pab34newdigs.blogspot.com.au/ ----------------------------------------------- Re: Wardrobe Options 4May 08, 2013 11:01 pm I've currently got 2 rails and it works well. I would also have some very shallow shelves on the plain wall for shoes at the bottom and things like fashion jewelry for my wife. The Harder You Try - the Luckier You Get ! Re: Wardrobe Options 5May 09, 2013 8:19 am Thanks everyone for the ideas. Alas the door is internal cavity this is the only place it could go. I thought that maybe we could bring a unit along wall C 3/4s of the wall length with more hanging and shelves on the end. Definitely think the double hanging idea is the way to go.
