Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Wet weather and building progress 2May 08, 2013 9:49 pm I'd imagine that all things considered, it's quicker building though winter than summer. Much of the country gets more rain in summer anyway or at least a similar amount, plus December & Jan holidays can hold things up. Rain will hold the build up, sometimes 1 rain day may hold tradesman back multiple days depending on the job. This can then in-turn hold up other trades who rely on certain work being completed before they can start. Re: Wet weather and building progress 3May 08, 2013 10:08 pm Thanks marto for the reply. I should have been more specific about the climate. I'm from perth so I'm talking about a Mediterranean climate with wet winters and dry summers. Re: Wet weather and building progress 4May 08, 2013 11:23 pm Okay - consider this: With the severe weather alert we have today and tomorrow - my roof carpenter's were not there today - the house being built behind me; their roof carpenter's worked all day. Guess it all depends on the contractor and how quick he want's to get the job done. Once the roof is on, their shouldn't be any hold up I wouldn't think. Re: Wet weather and building progress 5May 08, 2013 11:40 pm Generally wet weather only holds up brick layers and roofies. Once the roof is up there shouldn't be any rain related delays. And even then alot of trades can work in the train, they just stop and start all day when the rains stops and starts. Depends on the people though. My fiance is a roofie and works almost all rainy days. Re: Wet weather and building progress 8May 09, 2013 6:02 am i have seen brickies working hard on the rain at a neighbors property, but we have had so much rain here starting to wonder what the sun looked like. I have a tool that i have created that does this. Message me with your details and I will send it to you. 5 21572 nothing to do with salespeole. you'd do well to read and ccomprehend the post before bashing away at the keys with some negative comment again. 4 5048 8 3960 |
