Browse Forums Building A New House 1 May 07, 2013 11:26 pm Hello!! We have recently signed up with Cont3nt and are currently in the stages of finalising the plan so it can be sent off to shire for approval. This is our second build in the past couple of years (crazy I know!) as we built the first home in an area that wasn't developed and ended up being somewhere we didnt want to stay. We built the first home with Red1nk and although we didnt have too many problems we found Cont3nt to have a better deal for what we were looking for. We ended up choosing the Hudson due to its large living area and have modified the back end of the house to incorporate an activity room. So far our experience with Cont3nt has been okay. Our Sales rep is very honest with us and quite blunt but I think that is just his personality. We have chosen our tile selection from Swan Ceramics and have picked out our external colours and flooring so we really dont have much left to do. We still need to alter things like the bathrooms and centering window and all those finishing touches but so far heres our plan - Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ RHI - BALDIVIS PERTH 2005 Bought/Finished WA Housing Centre Home 2010 Building the Benchmark with REDINK Homes in The Avalon 2013 Building the Michigan with Cont3nt Living In Highbury Estate! Re: Build No.2 with Cont3nt Liv1ng - Baldivis 3May 08, 2013 12:03 am Welcome! Your plan looks great!! Where in baldivis are you moving to? We were down there on the weekend, I can't believe how much it has changed even in the 6 months since we were last down there but also since the years of driving through on the way down south! It really is beautiful, if all our family and friends weren't so north we would have considered it Re: Build No.2 with Cont3nt Liv1ng - Baldivis 4May 08, 2013 12:20 am hahaha your description of your sales rep sounds like the guy we dealt with in ellenbrook! he was very helpful but very blunt and to the point! love your plan and all the storage in the activity area! when we first started looking at plans we were drawn to the ones with the fully internal theatre like yours but kept having issues with every builder saying it's not possible unless we wanted to put the doors on after handover. are there any holes/windows in any of the walls of the theatre or a skylight? good luck with your build!! there is another cont3nt build on here somewhere that is nearing completion and is a great read if you haven't found it already! Re: Build No.2 with Cont3nt Liv1ng - Baldivis 6May 09, 2013 12:28 pm fmac Welcome! Your plan looks great!! Where in baldivis are you moving to? It really is beautiful, if all our family and friends weren't so north we would have considered it Thanks fmac, We have just puchased a block in Highbury Park around the corner from the kids school. I can't believe how much Baldivis has changed either! I too remember driving through on our road trip down south and it being mostly bush xxkatxx hahaha your description of your sales rep sounds like the guy we dealt with in ellenbrook! he was very helpful but very blunt and to the point! love your plan and all the storage in the activity area! when we first started looking at plans we were drawn to the ones with the fully internal theatre like yours but kept having issues with every builder saying it's not possible unless we wanted to put the doors on after handover. are there any holes/windows in any of the walls of the theatre or a skylight? good luck with your build!! there is another cont3nt build on here somewhere that is nearing completion and is a great read if you haven't found it already! ahahaha yes the honest and blunt sales rep He is very good at what he does which I guess is good for us I think I found the cont3nt build, If its the same one I think I even asked for advise. We loved the internal theatre too, was one of the things that made us sign up. We can put door frames on and put our own doors on later which we will be doing. We havent been told we need a skylight or highlight window at all so I dont think there should be a problem. CC101 nice plan. good luck with your 2nd build. hi kat - i think rhi is having door frame only in his theatre. Thanks CC101, I hope this build is faster and more accurate RHI - BALDIVIS PERTH 2005 Bought/Finished WA Housing Centre Home 2010 Building the Benchmark with REDINK Homes in The Avalon 2013 Building the Michigan with Cont3nt Living In Highbury Estate! Sim xoxox Thanks momomo We always wanted to build in Highbury Park but there were never any blocks for sale but thankfully some were released just after sold our house so it all lined up. Our block is 580sqm We should get our prestart date soon but we are still waiting on working drawings so the actual day of prestart may be a while away still but hopefully not too long. Re: Build No.2 with Cont3nt Liv1ng - Baldivis 20Jul 05, 2013 8:44 pm What a day!!!! We arrived at prestart at around 10.00am and ended up leaving around 4.00pm. I think we managed to get everything done and although we worked our poor prestart lady to death I am grateful we only had 45 items to cost and not the 200 plus we had on our last build We made a few small changes to the kids bathroom but mostly everything was cosmetic however I am still expecting a variation charge of around 15k Some items we upgraded were - 1. Changed the bath from the standard 1525 to the Newbury island bath 1800. 2. Added a nib wall in the kids shower. 3. Changed the redicoat flat panel doors to the standford doors. 4. Made the front doors 2340 x 820 doubles from the standard height doors Some things we didn't change - 1. Waterfall edges to kitchen - too expensive 2. Extra paving for driveway - again way too costly 3. Change over lighting to down lights throughout - again too expensive. After many long nights we ended up going with the following - Roof - Surfmist Gutters and Fascia - Surfmist Windows - Pearl White Garage - Surfmist Main Render - White Duck Qtr Feature Render - White Duck Full Strength Door colour - White Bathroom/Ensuite and Laundry - Doors - Stipple Smoke Tops - Essa - new crystal salt Floor - Grey Travis tiles Skirting - Travis white tile Kitchen - Top - Essa - New crystal Salt Doors - White 200 Laminex Splashback - Grey Mirror Splashback.
