Thanks Re: Aveling build in Landsdale - tiling done 645Jan 13, 2014 11:04 pm Thanks everyone, I'm still not 100% sure I like the kitchen tiles, but I won't do anything until everything is installed - including floor tiles and blinds. B_E Hi janicec, How was your experience building with Aveling? Are they good? Any hidden cost? Would you build with them again? I'm looking for a builder for an investment home, so far Aveling and Homebuyers are on my top list. I've had an experience building with Homebuyers, but don't know much about Aveling, their promotion and price looks pretty good though. Hi B_E, As you can see here overall we have been very happy during construction stage. We waited a long time for slab and brickies but once they started, everything happens quickly. Our CL and SS are both excellent, urgent issues were attended to immediately. We have a few outstanding issues, but I trust that they'll be fixed in due course. Of course everyone's expectation is different, we think they're good, we let go of minor workmanship issues (such as slightly uneven patches on the wall here and there, tiles not aligned perfectly - but good enough), it would drive you nuts if you're a perfectionist but both of us are not, it's been relatively stress-free. They're building a house we want (plus more) within our budget, I'm happy. I would build with them again if nothing major happens between now and when we get keys *touch wood*. Our neighbour built with Homebuyers, we stalked their build from when they first started It's finished so quickly and their house looks great! They've already moved in Other neighbour is building with HomeGroup WA, their house looks great too! Are you considering them? Hope you find a builder that suits you and good luck Re: Aveling build in Landsdale - tiling done 646Jan 15, 2014 9:51 am janicec Fair enough we're going to get the Kocom one too but thought I'd do a bit more research and found the Futuro system, will check it out before we decide... The alarm guy charges an extra $220 for the intercom installation anyway, no incentive for us to get both system from him We came across Skybell a wifi based intercom that uses an iphone or iPad as the base unit it looked right up our alley. Even comes up on your iphone when you aren't home and you can talk your visitors lol but being a US product it may not be compatible with our wifi or power so we ruled it out but definitely will be the future of doorbells once Australia catches up with US Design by Greater Concept - modified version Evolution Court Build by Premiere Homes My build viewtopic.php?f=31&t=64854 Re: Aveling build in Landsdale - tiling done 648Jan 15, 2014 3:33 pm I can see photos fine. Hope you find a builder that suits you and good luck Hi janicec, Thanks for the input. I am currently building with Home Group WA. Happy with everything so far except their admin is super slow. Just had pre-start 2 days ago, still hasn't finalised yet because I'm still waiting for the rest of the quotes Re: Aveling build in Landsdale - tiling done 651Jan 16, 2014 8:08 pm B_E Thanks for the input. Or are you building 2 houses at the same time? Re: Aveling build in Landsdale - tiling done 652Jan 18, 2014 2:34 pm Haven't had time to think about the build, been super busy... I guess it's a good thing because everything happens quicker when you're not watching . They've done a lot of things last week, looks like builder has cleaned the house and window, not sure how "clean" it is I haven't seen it in person. Things still need to be done (that I'm aware of! ) -
Things we need to organise immediately after handover:
Other bits and pieces that are not urgent:
I think that's about it, I'm still hoping we can move in early March! Fingers-crossed A few pics: still have two drawers missing there The tiles looks very different in photos ensuite - we may have problem with the shutter frame, I hope it would work out ensuite shower main bathroom Re: Aveling build in Landsdale - nearly there! 653Jan 18, 2014 7:48 pm Looks awesome Design by Greater Concept - modified version Evolution Court Build by Premiere Homes My build viewtopic.php?f=31&t=64854 Re: Aveling build in Landsdale - nearly there! 654Jan 19, 2014 5:46 pm We've got fly screens and remaining kitchen drawers installed. It's a bit disappointing to see our beautifully painted walls and ceilings got damaged by some careless tradies. The person who installed our linen sliders doesn't give a sh1t, he must have repeatedly bashed the sliders to the ceiling and walls... The Intelligent Home guy managed to leave a hole to our wall behind the box Re: Aveling build in Landsdale - nearly there! 655Jan 19, 2014 5:56 pm Yay for screens and drawers. Boo for tradies. Some people appear to not give a flying f&&* about the damage they cause. At least you're nearly there now. It makes you wonder how well they do their own work if they're not concerned about damaging the work done by the other trades? Re: Aveling build in Landsdale - nearly there! 656Jan 19, 2014 7:30 pm Yea... it's minor and doesn't really matter but I was thinking the same, why would they damage someone else's work? Somebody has to come back to fix it! *sigh*
Oh another note, I cannot wait to cook in my new kitchen Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ aaand.... our kitchen tiles, to me it doesn't look finished, we'll wait and see... I'm doing something similar, but we're thinking late April handover (with Aveling too). If you're aiming for March, I presume you've made your NBN application already? Usually 8-10 weeks' notice is what they need, so don't delay! And TV antenna - you shouldn't need that, depending on what service you get over NBN (with your Intelligent Home package, didn't they nominate TV points in the house?). Also, don't forget the crossover! A surprise cost sometimes - council will make a financial contribution, and have specifications for the works (that you can give the people quoting on your exposed aggregate driveway - if they're unprepared to do it, I doubt they're skilled enough to do a decent job with the concrete). Aveling build in Landsdale - nearly there! 660Jan 20, 2014 1:14 am IH advised us that we still need tv antenna, They can do that for us but we don't like the price. Were you told something different? Yes aware of crossover spec and council contribution. Thanks! Thank you so much everyone. This all makes a lot of sense. I guess when you talk to a builder who butters up everything to look very polished, you get to start believing… 7 17518 thank you! do we need to get this or our builder before we commence new build on the block? 2 10404 Hi, did you get any money from insurance? if you did, does it match what you've already paid the builders? 3 9559 |
