Sounds like you are both very sensible, I am sure the waiting and saving will pay off Re: One small step for most, one giant leap for us in... Mal 122Jan 28, 2014 9:46 pm tasha_is_clueless So glad to hear you're in the midst of selections. I am sure you are loving it and fantastic to hear of a start date. You won't be far behind us I'm sure you know by now but the price of silk finish isn't too scary. May be different because of different builder but we got polygloss which was $20 more a panel than silk and it came in at $1700 for the kitchen, vanity and ensuite and I still thought that was a really good price. Can't wait for you to come on and update us on what you picked. I think your grey and white scheme sounds great but I absolutely detest brown haha Hey Tasha Sorry I haven't been on in a while to update you all. I've been flat out! With selections scattered all over the place, working a second job and planning for school for this year, it's safe to say that I'm exhausted! I'm so pumped to hear that the silk finish isn't too bad price wise. We haven't got the quote back yet. Fingers crossed it isn't a blow out. It shouldn't be, but who really knows. I will upload some selection photos (I don't have all of them, but some at least) for you and others to ponder over. Need some help choosing the bathroom/ensuite floor tile. Mal 124Jan 28, 2014 10:05 pm Selections update... Talk about stressful! I don't think anyone can properly prepare you for the excitement and overwhelming feeling of trying to see the big picture of your future house during selections. We are nearly finished, just a few more appointments to go. Here are some photos... Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ This is the tile layout plan. As you can see, it's such a big area, that it's really important that we get it right the first time! The tiles have proven to be the hardest and scariest selection yet, and I'm still trying to work out which floor tiles I like the best. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ The photo in the bottom right hand corner is the Cedar Retreat display home that we copied completely. The only difference is the laminate benchtops, but in the same colour. I love it! Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Our joinery colours to match the Cedar Retreat display home. Hoping the upgrade to silk finishes won't cost too much! Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ The handles for our cupboards and drawers. We chose the handle above the longest one on the right. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ This is one of the main floor tile options. Don't scream because it's so light. I love cleaning (seriously) and I love a light tile! Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Another main floor tile option. It's hard to see with the light. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ The tiles I am most excited about! These are the bathroom/ ensuite tiles. I love the feature tile! The two in the middle are the choices in floor tiles that I am yet to decide on. Any idea?? Keep in mind that the vanity doors are the moose grey and the benchtops are the polar white. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Our feature tiles. Will be laid so that the lines match up as best as possible. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ This is the front porch tile. Obviously not this small This is just a small cut off. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ I love our carpet. The two at the bottom of the photo are a category 5 and the one at the top next to the underlay is a category 3. The look and the feel is beyond different. We went the lighter grey in the bottom left. So good to walk on soft, spongy carpet! Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Roof sample cards. Still a little indecisive about the colour. I think it will be one of the two on the left of the photo. So that's it so far everyone! I am yet to choose the bricks, windows, paint colour and finalise a few other things and then we are done! I will go back into Adelaide Building and Plumbing Centre and take photos of our selections and upload photos of our doors soon, so stay tuned!! Mal 125Jan 28, 2014 10:14 pm Your colour choices so far are beautiful. You have good taste and a lovely range to choose from. My preference would be the first floor tile and in the bathroom the darker floor tile. I don't think you could go wrong with any of them though oh and roof colour I really like the second from left, bit different. Re: One small step for most, one giant leap for us in... Mal 126Jan 28, 2014 10:17 pm Oh and I actually love the wall tile next to the feature tile you chose. Wondering if you might like to have that rather than the white i think you have chosen? I am still pulling my hair out over the tiles. I need to go in once more just to have another look at the larger displays rather than just a small sample. I agree with the roof colour. I think we will go with that one... Wondering if you might like to have that rather than the white i think you have chosen? I did think of that, but then changed my mind when I saw a few display homes with darker tiles. I will have a light tile for the main tile so I wanted to change it up a bit. Mal 133Feb 02, 2014 5:11 pm I empathise with the agony of making selections. Your choices are coming together and everything in your photos looks great. I can see why you would want to emulate the cedar retreat display--it's beautiful. Love your carpet choice, and dark floorboard. (I was going to go dark but I have to use my current furniture, most of which is dark, so I went light for a contrast. ) Roof? I like the second on the left. (mine are black ) I love the dark one, but I am just worried that as the vanities are the grey that you can see from the little joinery samples, it looks like it blends in rather than stands out...
