Browse Forums Building A New House 1 May 03, 2013 8:15 pm Hi all, Thought I would put the feelers out to see if anyone has any info/advice when purchasing land to build on. We are looking around Ipswich QLD (its not that bad! ), particularly Newtown if anybody knows the area. The land we are interested in isn't through stocklands or the like, but private sellers (inc. real estate agents). We really do not know what to be looking for as we are new to all this. I've been doing research online, however thought I could save a tonne of time through this page. Any help would be greatly appreciated, even if it is to recommend a builder in the area! Cheers. Ash (DEBT-HUNTER) Re: building virgin-Ipswich 2May 03, 2013 8:59 pm We're out that way, have just bought land near Springfield. So it's developer stock. We have friends that recently bought a house near Newtown, a renovated QLD-er. With regards to builders, we're probably going to go with a major builder for peace of mind, although we're not 100% sure yet. We have checked out heaps and Plantation is the one that stands out again and again for really sensible floor plans and great inclusions/prices. Not sure what I can help you with but it's always nice to hear from others close by! QLD seems to be oddly under represented on this forum. Stylemaster's lakeview in augustine heights was quite nice, but there are so many houses out there, they all begin to mesh after a while, my wife has a much better memory and eye for detail (re:housing that is!). Are your friends happy with the area? I'd ideally like to find a builder/company that can replicate a queenslander, but I've only been able to find a couple online. It is good to hear that there are others this way online. Re: building virgin-Ipswich 5May 04, 2013 6:00 pm Yes they're happy. They have plans to do significant renovation and extension to their house which is already by far the best house in the block, so I'm not sure that's the wisest move but they plan to stay for a long time. Re: building virgin-Ipswich 6May 04, 2013 6:01 pm Hi Victor! Who's your builder? How are you finding the building process, where are you up to? Build thread: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=65085 Re: building virgin-Ipswich 7May 04, 2013 8:35 pm We're building in Fernvale, about 20 mins drive north-west of Ipswich. We're building with Plantation, and so far our build has been a very positive experience! Best of luck with it!
