I've selected write a few things already but think just the paint I'm struggling on. i want a light grey / cool color for the walls as i don't want a warm creamy color... but picking that off of a few color cards.... its so hard! Re: First home with Statesman Homes in Andrews Farm SA 104Jun 24, 2013 12:57 pm Megs 25, congratultions - very exciting! Yes totally agree, paint colours are so hard! Have a look at the colours we have mentioned -Tundra Mist, Pacific Pearl, South Pole - they are all light grey/cool tones. Thanks Hachy for your reply, yes I did get the Pacific Pearl colour card from colour selections but still find it hard to decide from that! Lucinda, great idea to go same colour walls inside as render, didn't even think of that and great that no extra charge for that! Also didn't think to ask about ceiling white as skirtings/architrave colour - great idea. I still have a feeling that they will charge because I think it is more work for the painters to be cutting in etc. All the best with your build and I'm sure your colour will look great, sounds very nice. And thank you, hopefully colour appt all goes well, getting excited but a bit scared about getting the costs back! Angeepants was going to say you could also look at South Pole because that seems to be in between Tundra and Pacific Pearl but I don't want to confuse you further! A friend of mine even suggested half strength Tundra which I really like the idea of, will ask colour consultant on Wednesday. Another friend of mine recently built and she used White Tone by Solver which was a really nice grey undertoned white, not sure if they know matches in Taubmans and even if they look the same once on the wall. Re: First home with Statesman Homes in Andrews Farm SA 106Jun 26, 2013 3:56 pm so I've been advised that my.land settlement went through today. yay i have a block if nothing else! lol also was told my engineering report is being sent to me in the next couple days, however I've checked my block and there are no hills in the soil, how can they do soul trying without digging a hole in my block? Re: First home with Statesman Homes in Andrews Farm SA 107Jun 26, 2013 4:19 pm Congrats on being a land owner!!! The holes for the soil test are only about the diameter of a bit of poly pipe, with any rains, they can easily fill and "cave" in again, rendering them almost impossible to spot... Re: First home with Statesman Homes in Andrews Farm SA 110Jun 26, 2013 5:04 pm Megs25 thanks deluxes! i still would have thought we'd be able to see them lol so upset over something silly lol but then if there not there how do we know theyre giving us acurate reports and that I'm being costed for my soil and not just based on soil in the area? Well, that's just it... you don't! I could barely see my soil test holes and had friends who couldn't find theirs either... Well, put it this way. It's more of a gamble for them at this stage if they dont test your block and just go on the area, because they could get it grossly wrong and have to wear the costs themeselves. When they are doing the final footings reports, it's cruch time and when they have to fix those previously PC costed allowances, so it's not in their interests to make it up and not do it, because it's more likely to go pear shaped for them as they are now firmly quoting the price and locking it in. Unless you do your own independent soil test, I guess you wont know 100%... But its more likely to bite them and not you, so I'm pretty sure they've done it! I've still emailed statesman this afternoon to find out what they say. and i checked out the block tonight. and theres definitely no holes. my next question though is, at what point its it safe for the pegs to be removed? because the block behind me, their firewire slab pourer has, taken the widen pegs out the back corner.... Re: First home with Statesman Homes in Andrews Farm SA 115Jun 26, 2013 8:32 pm be careful with people taking out pegs cos if missing you will have to pay for repegging and they most likely wont start the build without pegs. Re: First home with Statesman Homes in Andrews Farm SA 117Jun 26, 2013 9:05 pm Congrats on owning your piece of Australia!!! The pegs that matter are the pins that are sitting at ground level, ours for example are white and square. Re: First home with Statesman Homes in Andrews Farm SA 119Jun 26, 2013 9:31 pm We have both... But some people's wooden stake type ones have fallen over already. The flat white square ones are pretty solidly in there though!
