Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Our ??? Build - Bluestone, Mt Barker 81May 21, 2013 11:15 am I can highly recommend at this point our sales guy at Fairmont. We are building our forever home and wanted quite a lot of extra's. He has been great at pricing it properly and working it out for us. If you want any info see my thread or ask me. I was concerned about a big builder having the range of products I wanted but so far I have been pretty happy albeit it comes at a lot of extra cost so saving will come in handy! Sorry to hear about the problems you have had so far. Re: Our ??? Build - Bluestone, Mt Barker 82May 21, 2013 11:23 am FairmontSAcustom I can highly recommend at this point our sales guy at Fairmont. Sorry to hear about the problems you have had so far. Funny you should say that. We originally saw a guy at Fairmont and we thought he was fantastic, Frank? We definitely will go back and visit him. I really like the finish on the Fairmont display homes too. Its just one of those things! I think we got carried away with this whole $8500 grant and in reality, we were going to lose the vast majority of it anyway going over $400,000! And staying under $400,000 wasnt going to get us the house we really wanted. So more saving for a bigger deposit & contribution, more options and a happier us! Glad to hear you've had a positive experience Your selections and choices are looking great Thread: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=66299 Slab: 16/6/14 Frame: 4/7/14 Roof: 22/7/14 Lock Up: 20/8/14 Fixing: 26/8/14 PCI: 9/10/14 Handover: 20/10/14 Re: Our ??? Build - Bluestone, Mt Barker 83May 21, 2013 11:34 am wow wasnt expecting to log on and read that, sorry to hear things did not go well i suppose in your case with the longer land settlement it doesnt matter too much if you delay by a few months because you wont have to worry about the whole building on the land within so many months(if your estate has that i know most you have to build in a certain time frame). good luck finding a new builder Re: Our ??? Build - Bluestone, Mt Barker 84May 21, 2013 11:45 am Ours is Michael, same sales guy that Sammy has. I was going to build with them about 15 years ago and approached him for a quote. I was surprised to see when I was looking around at builders that he still works for them! Keeping to under 400,000 for house and land would be hard... Re: Our ??? We suprisingly feel really good about our decision. Sometimes things are meant to go a certain way and maybe the universe just "highlighted" this with a big obstacle, so we had an opportunity to make the right decision for us. We have 24 months from Land Settlement to lay a slab, so not a big rush! But we wont be much longer than 6 months after settlement I dont think, so July-ish next year is the aim Thread: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=66299 Slab: 16/6/14 Frame: 4/7/14 Roof: 22/7/14 Lock Up: 20/8/14 Fixing: 26/8/14 PCI: 9/10/14 Handover: 20/10/14 Re: Our ??? Its always positive when someone has been with a compnay for a long time... Frank was going on 17 years with Fairmont when we spoke to him, that speaks volumes really! And better now than later when you've paid progress payments. Best of luck with choosing your new builder. Re: Our ??? Build - Bluestone, Mt Barker 89May 22, 2013 9:20 am Thanks Lucinda That was our thinking too... Luckily we have plenty of time to explore some new options! Build - Bluestone, Mt Barker 90May 25, 2013 11:49 pm Went for a bit of a roam back around the Bluestone display village again today... Ran into Sarah & Alex at the block, had a bit of a chat Found this gem again: The Serenity 254 - Rivergum Urban Homes It's a gorgeous display, can't believe we forgot about it??? & it's a top 3 contender now. Build - Bluestone, Mt Barker 92May 26, 2013 7:27 am love the floor plan, like how the kitchen goes that way. is this bigger than the one you were building. Re: Our ??? Build - Bluestone, Mt Barker 93May 26, 2013 10:30 am Thanks guys The display home is gorgeous, they have that entire alfresco area as those doors that go all the way round the corner? Making that space just so open and lovely. We probably won't do them, but the standard set up still has a lot of glass and makes it a real outdoors/indoors area. It is a bit bigger Hachy, 26sq I think? The last one was about 23.5. But the last one was only 3 bedrooms. We only really want 3 bedrooms, but deleting a bedroom off this plan might compromise a bit of its design elements, so we'll just leave it in if we go ahead with it. I like that the ensuite has a bath The only mods we will do to it is shave off 10mm (garage) to get it to fit within the requirements for our block and put double doors to the rumpus to turn into a Home Theatre type set up. Also move the window in the rumpus from facing the back to the side, and then flip the entire design so the alfresco side faces north. We have a few other designs in mind, and one of them is a custom self designed hodge podge that we'll submit to a few and see what they quote for it... Ahhh well we have plenty to time to fluff around, so might as well explore some options!!! Build - Bluestone, Mt Barker 97May 26, 2013 8:40 pm We really like it too... Really really Sat down with the guys at Rivergum today when we went to Seaford Meadows. He gave us sooo much info (it was great) have both Selections books, both the standard & premium spec and went through the mods we wanted to make, like the windows being changed and doors added to the rumpus etc. he's quoting on the premium spec as its probably upgrades we were going to make anyway, and that facade is included in that price. Should have a full price by the end of the week. At least then we can compare a few others and know we are comparing apples with apples, as what we are doing has changed a bit now! Quotes need re-adjusting. Thread: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=66299 Slab: 16/6/14 Frame: 4/7/14 Roof: 22/7/14 Lock Up: 20/8/14 Fixing: 26/8/14 PCI: 9/10/14 Handover: 20/10/14 Re: Our ??? Build - Bluestone, Mt Barker 98May 27, 2013 7:41 am From memory I believe this one was in the M price range but RG is a bit more flexible with allowing your tradies during build.. Basically walked through and said include 85% of what is in this display including the decking, facade, floors, etc. I especially liked the bath in the ensuite too! Thank you so much everyone. This all makes a lot of sense. I guess when you talk to a builder who butters up everything to look very polished, you get to start believing… 7 17199 of course there are legal avenues. You've already mentioned it. Sue them.
