Re: Ben Trager - Secret Harbour - Soakwells & Paving Prep 604Jul 29, 2014 10:47 pm Those soak wells are massive and are completely confusing me. Are they going in the front yard? Timing seems odd, but I have a lot to learn. I had assumed soak wells would go in at time of earthworks or slab preparations. Are soakwells that big?? . We opted to do our own but now I think 'doing our own' will mean hiring a soakwell company if they have to be that big! Our build thread: https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=70984 Re: Ben Trager - Secret Harbour - Soakwells & Paving Prep 607Jul 30, 2014 11:40 am City of Rockingham guidelines suggest you have to infiltrate all stormwater on site. You have a whole lotta roof, so that's a decent amount of runoff. I'm not sure which storm event City of Rockingham use for their design criteria. Many council say you have to store runoff from the 20 year event on site. Your soakwells would have been selected accordingly to fit this volume. My brother and I required 7 1500x1500mm soakwells on our combined 1009 sqm block. All the roof area and other impermeable surfaces like driveways add up! Excuse the hydrology jargon, it's what I do for a living! One is going in the front probably not far from where it's currently sitting, the other is going in the back near the alresco. Timing? Different builders do it at different times. Not sure if one way is better than another DIY? I think not. housebythewater Just in case they've ordered you one too many... http://www.pinterest.com/pin/536069161865401361/ In breaking news. We'll be putting semi-gloss sealant on after handover which should darken them a little. Better still it looks like all the Aircon ducts and outlets have been connected and the electrician has been fitting more sockets, bayonets and switches.
