Thanks H1 Thread - viewtopic.php?f=31&t=61557 Re: Ben Trager Homes. Pre-Start done and dusted. 62Jul 09, 2013 10:24 pm I love the idea of a feature colour on a front door, assuming it fits with the house. Looking at all your other choices I think it will look great! We considered doing it for our front door but went with the wood look garage door as the feature instead. Really we didn't have the courage!! Went the safe option! Re: Ben Trager Homes. Pre-Start done and dusted. 63Jul 09, 2013 10:57 pm LeanneR Love exterior colours and idea of bright blue door although sad to cover up the nice merbau hehe. Will it be blue on inside as well or just the front? It was a "paint grade" door, which I guess wouldn't look great stained. We both love wood but didn't know if it would fit in with the black/white colour scheme. The blue against the white reminds us of the sugar box houses of Lindos on the island of Rhodes. We didn't ask about the inside but, now you've mentioned it, hoping it's the same colour. Also hoping it will go with the Omni Trilock handle. Thanks We'll have to wait for the exact costs to come back but we'll let you know. We were told it would cost around $800 for the tap upgrades throughout. Re: Ben Trager Homes. Pre-Start done and dusted. 65Jul 09, 2013 11:02 pm We went with that handle too. I think it's a must with 1200 door. If your door is paint grade then should prob be blue on inside, i would imagine. New house is merbau so will be wood look all over Re: Ben Trager Homes. Pre-Start done and dusted. 66Jul 09, 2013 11:36 pm Great choices! I think it's great you've gone with such a statement for your front door, a great feature. My Thread: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=62841 Re: Ben Trager Homes. Pre-Start done and dusted. 67Jul 11, 2013 8:25 pm Oh that ocean view.....drool 2.5 hrs for prestart? You are super human orgamanized !! Wing commander hey? Very interesting and brave.. Good for you, I'm a whimp. And if it doesn't work, a fix up is only a paint brush away. The tap upgrade is very worth it IMHO. I don't like most of ours and is on my list of 'Laters!' So much easier to do right away. And so the wait begins..........hope you have nerves of steel cause this bit sends us all a bit 'nanas' Re: Ben Trager Homes. The coastline (as you know) around here is utterly spectacular. To live somewhere as beautiful as this in the UK is reserved for millionaires. We feel so lucky to have found it. We spent ages setting our minds on everything for weeks beforehand, otherwise we'd have been there all day. Serialbuilder Wing commander hey? Very interesting and brave.. Good for you, I'm a whimp. And if it doesn't work, a fix up is only a paint brush away. Our thoughts exactly. It's a gamble, time alone will see if it pays off. I'm ex Royal Air Force, I couldn't resist "Wing Commander". Serialbuilder And so the wait begins..........hope you have nerves of steel cause this bit sends us all a bit 'nanas' Ben Trager was there for our pre-start and said, all things being well, we should get earthworks towards the end of August. We've already got the developer approval, plans are with engineering & should be finished soon, then it's with certification for 2 weeks or less, then Shire approval (Rockingham are pretty quick apparently, our pool permit came through in less than a week). Fingers Crossed! Re: Ben Trager Homes. Secret Harbour. Pre-Start done. 69Jul 17, 2013 12:34 am Have you had any progress yet? Unfortunately we didn't get to meet Ben at our prestart which is a shame as I wanted to catch up with him about the company and how it was going (I have a professional interest from a planning and design perspective). We had prestart on 24 June and still waiting final pre start variation plans and paperwork. My Thread (Halls Head Beach House): viewtopic.php?f=31&t=67006 Re: Ben Trager. Great things to those who wait. 70Jul 19, 2013 6:26 pm We received the pre-start variations on Wednesday, minus the electrical variations. Credit where credit's due. That's pretty bloody quick!
Most of them seem quite reasonable and we'll be keeping. There were a couple of areas that we've asked for clarification on; things we thought were covered in the contract & adenda etc. oncewerefurriers we were quoted $2500 to go for a double vanity and, try as we might, we can't justify that amount for so little. LeanneR Wow! that's steep. We were told that the $2500 was a mistake and it wouldn't be anywhere near that price. It would actually be $2322 and we're not sure if that includes the upgraded mixer tap either. Re: Ben Trager Homes. Secret Harbour. Variation costs. 71Jul 19, 2013 7:07 pm Haha anywhere near $2500 just you know $178 less haha Re: Ben Trager Homes. Secret Harbour. Variation costs. 72Jul 19, 2013 10:20 pm And just received another e-mail from our very efficient pre-start consultant, Caroline. We've got our electrical variations through now and pretty much what we expected. Additionally she's answered all our queries about the included items to our satisfaction. Excellent news and a hell of a lot quicker than some of the horror stories we've heard. Re: Ben Trager Homes. Building Permit. On a roll! 73Jul 22, 2013 9:32 pm Received a fat envelope in the mail. Unfortunately it wasn't stuffed full of cash but it did contain a building permit. I'm guessing this means the certification and shire approval are through. That seems pretty quick the plans were with engineering less than 2 weeks ago. Does this mean we're almost into the build stage? Re: Ben Trager Homes. Building Permit. On a roll! 74Jul 23, 2013 12:14 pm Woohoo, that was quick! When we got our building permits through earthworks started 2-3 weeks later, so won't be long before your build will start. Very excited for you! Did you make any major changes/additions at per-start? My Thread: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=62841 Re: Ben Trager Homes. Final plans and Finance Finished. 75Aug 03, 2013 1:21 am Mini update. On Thursday we got the final plans and variations. There was a problem with the variations but our pre-start consultant has sorted these out. Today we've signed the final finance paperwork so, hopefully, everything is now good to go. emacleo0 Did you make any major changes/additions at per-start? Nothing big, we did most in the design phase (Aircon, Balcony, Garage storage, Render etc). The tiling has cost about $1000 extra. Changes to kitchen about $1600 (Dishwasher provision. Extra Drawers, Tap for fridge & Laminex Silk). Tap upgrades. Laminex Silk throughout, The only really splash was full width vanity cabinet/stone top in ensuite @ $1400 Total variations in the region of $7500. How's yours coming along? Re: Ben Trager Homes. Final plans and Finance Finished. 76Aug 03, 2013 8:13 pm Sounds good, your builder seems very organised, hope not too long until construction commences. that glass of red is getting closer. It is, indeed. We took the dog for a walk past the block and discovered something. TAP! Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Re: Ben Trager Homes. TAP!!!!!!!!! 79Aug 03, 2013 10:49 pm Thanks Leanne. If, 4 months ago, someone had said "One day you'll be excited by seeing a brass tap on your block". We'd have looked at them like they'd gone mad. They would've been right, though. We are excited. Our 12 yr old daughter wasn't quite so impressed. Re: Ben Trager Homes. TAP!!!!!!!!! 80Aug 04, 2013 12:01 am Yay for the tap! It's the small things that excite in the early stages Things are still going slow, but that's down to this damn weather! All for rain, but would prefer weekend downpours, fine and sunny during the week. Too much to ask? I haven't been to the block for a few weeks, it frustrates me every time I see it. My parents went down last weekend, took some photos for me, render all done and colour looks good. Apparently the painting to upstairs was getting done this week (not sure if its finished), and lower storey roof is booked in for next week. Knowing the 3 weeks or so spent waiting for the new corner window to be installed was not necessary as the top storey roof was done without it installed (was told they had to wait for the window before the roof could start, although this wait could have also been due to the old SS who is no longer with BT!), so now with all this rain I can't help but think we could have had the lower roof done by now and they could just get on with it! Forecast isn't looking great next week so no doubt roof will take even longer to finish. Vent over - main thing is we have a new SS who knows what he is doing and is getting everything back on track!! My Thread: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=62841 I think the proposal that a supply and demand curve are a natural law are well exaggerated. Wages never seem to follow this curve, and also prices for supply are sticky… 18 19154 Go to an actual paint store, not bunnings. Dulux even have trade centers. Don't have to be a trade to but their paint. 1 13399 Depends how much direct sun it gets. Is there any shading (eaves or trees)? If the sun hits a window directly it doesn't matter too much if it's double or single… 1 9858 |
