Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Ben Trager. Great things to those who wait. 41Jun 14, 2013 2:03 pm Yay, thats very good news! Plans look good! Are you putting in a dishwasher recess in kitchen? Also, are you going to have an inbuilt laundry trough, with bench and cupboard underneath? Something we did was put in a nib wall to get rid of the gap between the bathroom vanity and shower, those gaps just annoy me, something else to consider amongst the millions of other things! My Thread: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=62841 Re: Ben Trager. Great things to those who wait. 42Jun 14, 2013 7:49 pm emacleo0 Yay, thats very good news! Plans look good! Are you putting in a dishwasher recess in kitchen? Probably not. This may sound strange to some but we don't like dishwashers. We're going to be here for a long time so it's not like we 'd even have one as a selling feature. Although we may put a powerpoint in the island for future-proofing. emacleo0 Also, are you going to have an inbuilt laundry trough, with bench and cupboard underneath? Again, probably not. We've got a free-standing trough at the moment. In the UK we didn't even have a separate laundry, so even a basic one is a luxury to us. We'll probably put up some wall cupboards after handover. emacleo0 Something we did was put in a nib wall to get rid of the gap between the bathroom vanity and shower, those gaps just annoy me, something else to consider amongst the millions of other things! Thanks. That's another thing for us to think about. Re: Ben Trager. Great things to those who wait. 43Jun 14, 2013 8:23 pm I was only going to suggest what you've already done. i.e. number the items... Whatever you do - don't rush. Make sure you're happy. If they want it to start, they'll make the requested changes, which are completely reasonable. Re: Ben Trager. Great things to those who wait. 44Jun 14, 2013 8:35 pm If you do nothing else put a PowerPoint in the island!! Maybe the end of the island that faces the stairs. It is a small price to pay because it is almost impossible to add later! I have seen someone who has put the provision for a dishwasher but it is actually a cupboard unless they take the door etc off and put a dishwasher in. Means everything is there for it but no empty space like you would normally have. Just an idea. Re: Ben Trager. Means everything is there for it but no empty space like you would normally have. Just an idea. I wondered if something like that was possible. Thanks. I suppose we could get those wire drawer things from Ikea in it and then if we wanted a dishwasher we've got the option. Re: Ben Trager. Great things to those who wait. 46Jun 14, 2013 9:01 pm This was the one I was talking about. If you look at the pictures of the kitchen you can't tell a dishwasher could go there but if you read down it makes reference to being able to take the kick out etc. might at least be worth asking about... http://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=59958&p=1011760&hilit=Dishwasher+provision#p1011760 Re: Ben Trager. Great things to those who wait. 48Jun 15, 2013 2:44 am Thanks janicec. We love the block and it's elevated position. Once the upper storey goes on we'll really appreciate the Ocean view as we'll be much higher than the blocks "below" us. janicec Just imagine having a cuppa in the balcony on a summer day. nice. We were thinking wine on a summer evening. Re: Ben Trager Homes. Pre-Start booked. 49Jun 21, 2013 2:33 pm We've got the contracts and had a meeting yesterday with the eponymous Ben, who seems like a genuinely nice guy, and the fantastic Nadine. We were happy to sign the contracts but Ben insisted we take them away to study them and bring them back in when we come for pre-start, which is booked for 9th July. We asked a million and one questions; making a dummy dishwasher recess, using bigger bathroom tiles, unusual render colours, altering wall heights. The answer every time was, "Yep! we can do that". After hearing stories about other builders disuading customers from making changes, we know we've made the right choice. We've pretty much decided all the pre-start items, almost finished the elctrical plan, chosen tiles & finance pre-approval is sorted out. All systems go! A second visit to see the ever helpful Mark @ Swan Ceramics. We've now decided on a balcony tile which is a textured dark grey with a hint of brown. And your selections are beautiful. I really liked the zincworks but dark grey ended up winning out. Maybe next time Re: Ben Trager Homes. And your selections are beautiful. Thanks. We're really confident about the build, it's going to be our dream house. We always wanted black porcelain tiles(I know it's a pain to keep clean), but we almost changed our mind when we saw the Cadiz Marengo (main bath floor tiles) We fell in love with them, especially alongside the glass metallic mosaic and knew we had to use them. We wanted the ensuite and main bathrooms similar but different so went for porcelain pure black with Aluminium feature tiles in the ensuite but kept the zincworks and carbon essastone as the tie-in. fmac I really liked the zincworks but dark grey ended up winning out. Maybe next time I don't think you'll be moving anytime soon, yours is looking so good now and you'll be in in no time. emacleo0 That's very good news! Love the tiles. We have zincworks silk finish as one of our kitchen colours too, delicious. perhaps a glass of wine on the block to celebrate the first milestone? Re: Ben Trager Homes. Pre-Start booked. 54Jun 30, 2013 12:20 am Sounds like you've got a great relationship with your builder, so nice to hear. Really like your tile and bench choices too. Ocean views will be great, I hear the skies over Perth are a little bluer than in the UK for that sort of thing hehe . You've picked a great place to build your dream home. Re: Ben Trager Homes. You've picked a great place to build your dream home. I don't know what you mean. The Ocean views & blue skies in the UK are ............ Oh yeah! Non-existant! Couldn't resist going to the block today with a set of step ladders. This is roughly the same height as the floor of the balcony.
