Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Ben Trager - Secret Harbour - DIY Extractors! 1001Nov 24, 2014 12:05 pm Oh u must be kidding me.......I'm lost for words. What absolute rubbish!! Our build thread [url]https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?t=71492/url] Prestart: 18/7/14 Final plans: 13/8/14 Building permit: 30/9/14 Re: Ben Trager - Secret Harbour - DIY Extractors! 1002Nov 24, 2014 12:24 pm It's no wonder why BT have no social media presence, they'd be inundated with bad reviews if your build is anything to go by. As an aside, if your ducted A/C is reverse cycle then keep an eye on the insulation of the refrigeration piping over time (the white insulated pipes). They've used twin pipe, which is pretty standard for residential builds as it's cheap and fast to install, but when used in heating mode the insulation can deteriorate over time and then when used in cooling mode you can have condensation forming on the cold pipes and causing water damage to your ceiling. Re: Ben Trager - Secret Harbour - DIY Extractors! 1003Nov 24, 2014 1:24 pm Far out that is very bad. I made sure to get up in the roof space with my SS during PCI to not get any nasty surprises down the track. You should send a photo to BT and make them do it. I've had Redink come back to my house twice to sort out substandard plumbing. I've recently discovered the H/W system valve is leaking too. It never ends does it! Re: Ben Trager - Secret Harbour - DIY Extractors! 1004Nov 24, 2014 2:48 pm I have no words ... that is beyond shocking. Another one of the bathroom extractor. The silver thing at the top of the picture is the end of the duct. How much work is it to connect it up? And it's not like it's difficult to see, it's within 1 metre of the the roof access hatch. Re: Ben Trager - Secret Harbour - DIY Extractors! 1006Nov 24, 2014 10:56 pm What the heck is going on owf?! It feels like it just has to be one big joke by now...im so sorry what should be a happy exciting time for you is tainted with peoples idiocy. Re: Ben Trager - Secret Harbour - DIY Extractors! 1007Nov 25, 2014 12:27 am Blimey owf. Its never bloody ending is it. I am so getting in the roof this week. Re: Ben Trager - Secret Harbour - DIY Extractors! 1008Nov 25, 2014 6:19 pm I dont know what im looking at but it looks messy! Re: Ben Trager - Secret Harbour - DIY Extractors! 1009Nov 25, 2014 7:43 pm It isn't just your builder who has trouble getting exhaust connected properly. Our Ensuite toilet exhaust is legally required to be flamed. We didn't find out till the 6 month maintenance, and by chance (neither of us have ventured into the roof) that they hadn't flamed it correctly! It makes me worry if they haven't done these simple things what else did they miss!! Anything you notice in the coming days/weeks email them about it so you can raise it at the 6 month maintenance period. Good Luck!! Re: Ben Trager - Secret Harbour - Beyond a joke 1010Nov 27, 2014 10:56 pm When I called them first thing on Monday morning, I was told "We'll get someone out straight away". Well, someone has been at the house every minute of the day for the last 4 days (mainly me). No-one has come round or even called. This isn't even considering the list of items from PCI that have been completely ignored. It's good to see customer service isn't dead. We were told by someone who had built with Ben Trager that once they had your final payment, they weren't interested. We (mistakenly) thought "After all the problems we've had with our build they'll want to make sure it' finished properly" How stupid do we feel now? Re: Ben Trager - Secret Harbour - Beyond a joke 1011Nov 27, 2014 11:54 pm Looks like I missed the drama again. Good grief owf, I don't know how you got though this build with your sanity intact. The keys?? Really? Come on! On the bright side, your pool looks awesome, and it looks like the tiling is coming along really well too. I really hope the remaining problems get sorted for you soon, and not too many more issues pop up. Re: Ben Trager - Secret Harbour - Beyond a joke 1012Nov 28, 2014 12:26 am It toke my builder like 3-4mon to fix my tile grout and still needs to be re sealed . but all my drama I now get calls to update me. After 6 Mon I'm looking at a viewing panel with exposed brick around it as it was replaced 2 Mon in . but haven't really been putting my foot down about that getting fixed as my no1 was my grout . the thing is we should tell them once and they should organize it . I think it toke like 2mon to get my exhaust fans flummed . I don't know if it gets any better .. You learn to fight what battles you need to get fixed straight away other wise you go crazy . good luck . Re: Ben Trager - Secret Harbour - Beyond a joke 1013Dec 02, 2014 12:42 pm OMG OWF I know I say this a lot on your thread but I have no words <!-- l --><a class="postlink-local" href="https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?t=62083">viewtopic.php?t=62083</a><!-- l --> Re: Ben Trager - Secret Harbour - Could it get any worse? 1014Dec 05, 2014 11:30 pm It's been a while. We've been internet-less for a week!!!! Telstra couldn't connect us as our neighbours' landscaper had concreted of the 'pit'. All sorted now thanks to our very nice neighbour. This weeks major issue happened late on Wednesday night. Mrs owf switched the light on in the ensuite WC and the entire extractor fan unit fell out of the roof hitting her in the face, on the arm and thigh leaving some nasty bruising. The house was plunged into darkness because the power out let in the roofspace was ripped out. Cue very angry phonecall to Ben Trager Homes on Thursday morning. ADCO electricals phoned up a short while later and after some very angry words to them an electrician turned up within an hour. Mrs owf spent the whole of Thursday morning at Rockingham hospital. Fortunately there was no permanent damage although there was some fear the eye-socket may have been broken. Adam, the owner of ADCO Electricals phoned later on to see how Mrs owf was. He was genuinely apologetic and sounded truly sorry that this had happened. He asked if there was anything he could do to help and we told him we were happy that he'd gone to the effort of calling us. What did Ben Trager do? Nothing. Nothing at all! The SS came round to have a look at the extractor unit which had already been fixed but there wasn't a word of apology or concern for mrs owf. Let me ask you this question. If you owned a company where you knew someone had been injured by a house you'd just built (whether it was your fault or not). Would you call them to ask if the person was okay or if you could do anything for them? (Like Adam from ADCO) or would you shrug your shoulders and do nothing like Ben Trager? Re: Ben Trager - Secret Harbour - Could it get any worse? 1015Dec 05, 2014 11:41 pm OMFG can it get any worse? I'm sorry Mrs OWF was injured and glad that she wasn't more seriously injured .....I honestly can not however understand the attitude of Ben Trager....thinking of you all <!-- l --><a class="postlink-local" href="https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?t=62083">viewtopic.php?t=62083</a><!-- l --> Re: Ben Trager - Secret Harbour - Could it get any worse? 1016Dec 05, 2014 11:50 pm Thanks AKB. We thought we were over the worst of it but alas no. Fortunately we've been connected back to matrix ensuring 2 happy kids and the roof has finally been finished only 7 and a half months after it was started and only a mere 7 weeks since PCI. Re: Ben Trager - Secret Harbour - Could it get any worse? 1017Dec 05, 2014 11:55 pm I'd be contacting a lawyer at this point. Or the media or consumer protection or something! This is beyond a joke and far past the realm of "bad customer service". That's just pure negligence. Imagine if that injury had caused serious harm? If an exhaust fan can drop from the ceiling, what else may happen? Far out, at the very least you should feel safe in your new home. My heart sinks every time you post a new status. I hope for the day when your subject title reads "home, sweet home". I'm terribly sorry for you. I know BT are incapable of saying it, but at least take comfort in the fact that your H1 friends will rally behind you. If the sun hits a window directly it doesn't matter too much if it's double or single… 1 12670 9 24814 Congratulations! Nice to put that to bed before christmas, now you can relax 3 7183 |
