Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Battle-axe Custom Build with DaleAlcock - Still waiting 121May 15, 2014 10:46 am In my email to the CLO expressing my dissatisfaction, I did also ask her what happened there as she nor the SS have let us know. I'm sure they would've glossed over it but glad we went there and saw it and took a photo of it so they can't deny it. She hasn't replied yet, as usual though. https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=64434 Building our own custom design based on the Elwood by Dale Alcock Land settled - November Plans submitted to council - January Prestart - March Slab - 18 September Brickies - 23 October Re: Battle-axe Custom Build with DaleAlcock - Still waiting 122May 16, 2014 6:23 pm You should be demanding an explanation and a written gaurantee that if something goes wrong with that later they'll fix it. Seems very strange to put a pipe within the slab unless it's a conduit for something else. Re: Battle-axe Custom Build with DaleAlcock - Still waiting 123May 19, 2014 10:29 am So the CLO states that there was a leaking pipe under the hardstand in the garage between the laundry and the linen out to the sewer. This has now been rectified and all the brick work will also be rectified in due course. So we will wait and see, more delays no doubt. Grano wasn't poured towards the end of last week as stated in her email as well as we went to the house on Saturday and literally no work took place last week. They said weather permitting but I thought the weather wasn't too bad, just rained for about an hour on friday that was it. https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=64434 Building our own custom design based on the Elwood by Dale Alcock Land settled - November Plans submitted to council - January Prestart - March Slab - 18 September Brickies - 23 October Re: Battle-axe Custom Build with DaleAlcock - PCI Friday at 124Jun 05, 2014 5:39 pm So we went and had a look on the weekend and finally grano was poured and our driveway has been paved And today my fiance received the call we've been waiting for about 2 months now that we are having our PCI on Friday next week. Still waiting to hear back from our building inspector to make sure he can make Friday otherwise we may have to change the date but finally we can see the light at the end of this tunnel. The big hole they dug out in our garage is still there but I'm hoping they will fix that this week. I just caught up on your thread and this comment made me smile. I will chew off my own arm before I build with them again. Good Luck with PCI. Hopefully your list will be a lot shorter than ours was (and still is). At the very least it means you're closer to having those keys in your hot little hands! Re: Battle-axe Custom Build with DaleAlcock - PCI for next w 126Jun 06, 2014 10:28 am Did Shannon from Dale's just delete his comment? FP, surely any other builder will be better for next time. I'm thinking maybe a boutique builder so we aren't just another number to them. Yeah I'm dying to have a proper look now and with the inspector because I wouldn't know what to look for. Keys means no more paying $1800 a month in rent!! I'm really disappointed to hear this from both of you - not what we want at all! It's definitely not a case of 'just a number' either. Are there any problems I can look into for you? It IS like getting a pay rise, think of the furniture you can buy for the new place now! Dale Alcock Homes. We love building. You got a great house plan but felt sorry with all the trouble you had, with your neighboor and with DAH. I'm building with DAH as well, I've also heard from FP the dramas she had to go through. I'm just hoping mine will go smoothly.. So far its nothing but great experience. But then again, I'm only still on pre-contract stage.. Hope you get into your home soon! My first build journey here https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=71028 Re: Battle-axe Custom Build with DaleAlcock - PCI for next w 130Jun 09, 2014 10:38 am Aw I don't want to put you off, they have great plans and the showroom is awesome. Just be on top of things, get everything written down and one thing I wish I did was take my own notes in pre start and maybe get an electrician to look over your electrical plans to make sure everything you asked for is documented. The CLO only goes on what is actually written down regardless of what you have discussed with the site supervisor or prestart or even pre-pre start planning people and it's a real nightmare when you are promised one thing and it's not written down as they won't deliver. https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=64434 Building our own custom design based on the Elwood by Dale Alcock Land settled - November Plans submitted to council - January Prestart - March Slab - 18 September Brickies - 23 October Re: Battle-axe Custom Build with DaleAlcock - PCI for next w 131Jun 09, 2014 6:55 pm jsoetandi Hi navs, Just started reading this whole thread. Rest assured it's not all bad news. We have just built with dales and whilst the whole building experience can be a roller coaster I wouldn't hesitate in recommending DAH. They were always so professional and I really believe keeping the customer happy was a priority to each staff member I encountered through te stages. I may have just been lucky but our SS was fantastic and CLO even better. It was not all smooth sailing but each time I was happy with how they handled situations and the outcome. I LOVE our home and very happy with the finished product Good luck for your build. Re: Battle-axe Custom Build with DaleAlcock - PCI for next w 132Jun 09, 2014 9:15 pm Tbrown is right, lots of different people work there and it's the luck of the draw who you get really. If you get an awesome CLO and SS who are on top of things it can make a real difference. We have friends who even had our SS when they built 2 years ago and they were a massive fan however we had a different experience. I'll comment on the quality of the workmanship after Friday but everything looks ok from the outside except for a few minor things. https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=64434 Building our own custom design based on the Elwood by Dale Alcock Land settled - November Plans submitted to council - January Prestart - March Slab - 18 September Brickies - 23 October Re: Battle-axe Custom Build with DaleAlcock - PCI for next w 133Jun 13, 2014 6:31 pm After PCI today I have to say that we are mostly impressed with the quality of the workmanship. Our building inspector only found a few minor faults and our site supervisor was very honest at pointing out faults that will be rectified as well. And the clean is also quite amazing, I wasn't expecting the house to be as clean as it was, won't be scrubbing the floors before we move in like I imagined. All in all, very happy to be proceeding forward, hope our bank gets their inspection done within the next 10 days so we can pick up our keys!! https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=64434 Building our own custom design based on the Elwood by Dale Alcock Land settled - November Plans submitted to council - January Prestart - March Slab - 18 September Brickies - 23 October Re: Battle-axe Custom Build with Dale - PCI done, keys in 2w 134Jun 14, 2014 1:18 pm Hooray! Re: Battle-axe Custom Build with Dale - PCI done, keys in 2w 136Jun 27, 2014 12:26 am Hi Navs I just read through your thread, wow what a rollercoaster ride you have been on. I hope everything is going well and you have a hand over date now! Can't wait to see finished photos. Re: Battle-axe Custom Build with Dale - Key Handover Today. 137Jun 27, 2014 10:53 am It really has been a rollercoaster and a very long 20month journey since we first looked at the land but key handover today so very excited I found a bottle of champagne chilling in the fridge when I was making my breaky too that my fiance must've put in. Now we can finally stop paying rent and start saving for our wedding https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=64434 Building our own custom design based on the Elwood by Dale Alcock Land settled - November Plans submitted to council - January Prestart - March Slab - 18 September Brickies - 23 October Re: Battle-axe Custom Build with Dale - Key Handover Today!! 138Jun 27, 2014 11:28 am Quote: key handover today Wow I am so excited for you Navs. I just finished replying to your post on my thread about the sparkling I have in the fridge for when our slab goes down. I am so excited about the slab going down I don't know how I will survive the excitement of key handover! Re: Battle-axe Custom Build with Dale - Key Handover Today!! 139Jun 27, 2014 11:51 am Congratulations that's so exciting! Now wedding planning won't seem nearly as stressful! Re: Battle-axe Custom Build with Dale - Key Handover Today!! 140Jun 27, 2014 6:00 pm Would've liked to have met our CLO but she was on leave, key handover took all of 15mins and was a bit of an anti-climax tbh but I'm excited to have a drink at our house today. If anyone is building with Dale's and wondering, yes they are still giving a Nespresso coffee machine. I was kind of hoping for a furniture gift voucher or something else as we already have a proper bean coffee machine which they knew as they had to build a cupboard to our dimensions and then get the shelf they accidentally put in there removed, but I'm sure we'll be able to regift it. I'm especially excited to be able to open the lock and park my car in the garage! We had a drink at the slab too tanyaw (it was the week we got back from holidays where we had also got engaged so was a very exciting time). Slab down and key handover are definitely champagne worthy moments in life! Thanks trixee, I've already said I don't know why people say planning a wedding is hard, I haven't found it difficult at all, building a house is infinitely harder (and way more expensive). https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=64434 Building our own custom design based on the Elwood by Dale Alcock Land settled - November Plans submitted to council - January Prestart - March Slab - 18 September Brickies - 23 October Your house should come in "as new" condition. It should be clean, and without stains 1 4550 I'd get the gutters to match your roof and pipes to match the paint - otherwise they become a feature. Nice pick with the paint colours! 1 34266 6 55311 |
