Fabulous news. What are HBC saying in regards to not removing/treating the staining? That's not good. Blog: http://dandesbuild.blogspot.com.au Re: Homebuyers Centre Ultimate St Marks - Avalon at Baldivis 407Jan 30, 2014 10:50 pm Hey Pooksie, We've been informed that HBC will provide us with a booklet upon key handover that gives advice on how to treat the vanadium staining, but they won't do that for us. I know others on the forum have had their builders take care of it - I guess at the end of the day, when you build with an entry level builder, you get entry level service! On a side note, one of the requirements we have to meet to have the bank release the final payment for the house is to provide a certificate of currency to show that we've got the house insured - timing is essential at this stage as we are given only 10 days to get all the funds released to HBC or they will start charging is interest for every day they don't get their money! If you take out a home insurance policy with HBF online - they won't give you a certificate of currency for 2 days! We have the same staining, RI didn't do anything either & it is starting to slowly fade, I don't even notice it now! As for the staining Aussie ended up spraying ours a third time. As standard they do it once at lockup (which makes it so much worse!) and again just before PCI but we weren't happy with the staining so they did it again. It's faded quite a bit but I do need to go get some chlorine to spray it ourselves. Then I'll probably tear them up so I can have liquid limestone Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Tez Avalon at Baldivis Homebuyers Centre Ultimate St Marks Our home thread: https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=64428 Re: Homebuyers Centre Ultimate St Marks - Avalon at Baldivis 412Jan 31, 2014 8:28 pm Tez Avalon at Baldivis Homebuyers Centre Ultimate St Marks Our home thread: https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=64428 Re: Homebuyers Centre Ultimate St Marks - Avalon at Baldivis 413Feb 04, 2014 1:10 am Hi Tezzle, Just a note about the vanadium staining. We obviously built with HBC as well and they told us the same thing - they don't remove it because the treatment can do more damage to the bricks. We had a private building inspector as well and he actually agreed with our site supervisor. He said that while it does look bad, it will fade on it's own, and applying chemicals weakens the bricks and can make them crumble. We have noticed that some of our staining has faded already but we are very tempted to just clean the bad spots with some bleach. Just thought I'd let you know though since we totally thought they were just being lazy but it turns out that cleaning it off isn't actually recommended. Ok, pre-handover appointment was yesterday, and by the time it was all done, lots had happened! We got there first as there had been an accident on the freeway which held everyone one else up, but then the HBC guy gave us a tour of the house - opened and closed all drawers, cupboards, windows & blinds, pointed out a 'settlement crack' which had occurred in the dining room and let us know that HBC centre would be on to it. Also, the shower screens and mirrors had not been installed yet. Then our inspection agent came that we had paid for, and even though I haven't received his report yet (probably later today) he seemed very thorough - was at the property for several hours, went all through the house, around the house, into the roof and on the roof! At the end of it he said there are some minor issues that will be in the report but otherwise we could basically sign off on the house right then and there! Also the bank inspector came and went through the house, I'd emailed them the certificate of currency and other documents they needed a couple of days before and let them know in the email that the house would be open during this time! Then the glass guys arrived and installed the mirrors and shower screens while we were there! THEN as I went outside I saw the fence contractor working on the house over the road and he let me know that our house is scheduled for the fence to go in most likely next week (though the utility side of the house is a bit of an issue at the moment as the next door neighbours who I haven't met have dug a trench and started to lay pipework for their storm drains, and all the excess stand has been dumped on our side) But considering all this, I think were are probably about 10 business days or so out from getting the keys!
