Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Apr 26, 2013 5:40 pm Hi guys, This is my third build and hopefully last for a while. We signed the official contract documents last night. Am really looking forward to moving in.... Not Prestart. Here is a pic of the new house below: It's a six bedroom home with a scullery, theatre room, study, games room and store... All hoping to fit our three small boys and teen. We built with Gemmill last year and the finish was fantastic so fingers crossed for a repeat. Living space total:370sqm with garage: 420 ish. No alfresco as we plan to put large gable patio with room for a pool underneath. Can the scullery be reduced and the WIP move across to make way for a W/C accessible form the outside thru the laundry to suit the needs of children from the front yard , the back yard and the future pool , plus accessible from the inside in an emergency when guests visit. My two cents I guess I wish you all the best of luck Timeline Aug 08-Land Mar 09-Demo/Titles Sept 10-Handover No1 Sept 11-Handover No2 April 12-Sold No2 Aug 14-Land/Demo Jan 15-Slabs viewtopic.php?f=31&t=25736 Re: Building with Gemmill in Oakford 4Apr 26, 2013 9:53 pm Hi and welcome to the forum It's great to see another Gemmill build Your house is huge! I love all the storage. Thanks Echo for your thoughts. As for the w/c, I did take out the third bathroom and made use of it in the study (room greed). I wanted to add An outside toilet/powder room but costs had reached the limit so i thought with the main entertainment areas to the left so I thought having the toilet with a powder room, so guests, do not walk into messy second bathrooom (just guessing what it will be like with three teenage boys later) might suffice for now. I would like to build a cabana/games room separate from the house with own w/c with a pool table etc but in a few years time. This is our dream home but long term project. Would also like to add a wrap around veranda, well into the future.... Lotto anyone :-p Building nightmare started on 23/02/13 Prestart 17/05/13 Earthworks 08/08/13 4 1/2 month delay (+wettest September in 47 years) Slabbed 18/11/13 Brickwork started 11/12/13 Re: Building with Gemmill in Oakford 6Apr 27, 2013 8:25 pm Hi Marisi, I'm another Gemmill customer, great to see your plans, the house is massive! I like the dark grey grout against the white tiles. Am I mad ?? Hahaha not mad at all!! I love contrasting grout and seriously considered doing it but hubby wasn't too keen I love that your other half found the perfect splash back in a men's room... isn't amazing how we can find inspiration anywhere when building There are quite a few people on the forum that have gone with the shaker style kitchen. Hmm that's very frustrating! I just found the brochure from our new home file and it has the following: Builders standard range Absolute Quartz Stone - coco, polar, alabaster, chrome, steel, creme Granite - flint, blanco, ravello, amber, rosa glen, mocca supreme, padang, graphite Premium range (which I think is an upgrade) Q Stone - velvet, shale, mocha, ivory, artic, frost, risotto brown, cinnamon blush, latte, sand, luna stone, summertime, river quartz, santos Granite - azzuro, cypress, midnight, new grey The above may be out of date as we got it in Jan 12. Perhaps take a trip into the Absolute Stone showroom in Osborne Park if its not too out of the way. They have big samples on display and were very helpful when I went in. They give you samples too Our custom Gemmill Home in Bedfordale WA Build thread:https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=53788 Timeline on page 1 Re: Building with Gemmill in Oakford 15Apr 28, 2013 10:44 am Brilliant idea!! Our custom Gemmill Home in Bedfordale WA Build thread:https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=53788 Timeline on page 1 Re: Building with Gemmill in Oakford 17Apr 28, 2013 12:58 pm You're not crazy about the dark grey grout with white tile, I think its looks great, I debated doing the same thing in my house, but I couldn't find a decent subway tile at the tile shop we went to, and I would've gone the dark grey grout too. Stick to your guns with your colours, I had my colour consult which was fine, but then got talked out of stuff at pre-start by a different lady then stupidly went along with it and then paid variation fees to change them back.... I went with the laminex 'shaker' profile doors, similar to your pics but the builder at pre-start didn't know what I was on about so they had to call up their Laminex consultant while I was a pre-start to see if such a thing existed - it did but we paid extra for it, its a painted door. Now I wish I had also had the foresight to choose some glass doors like in your pic. It is frustrating about the bench tops, I ended up picking one which was a Premium 1 bench and it cost more - I always do this, but stuck to Riverstone for my bathrooms which was priced in. It’s been enclosed. I’m not sure what was removed, as it was done quite some time ago - well before what I can see with photos online… 2 11568 |
