Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Building with Kurmond Homes 563Apr 07, 2014 9:08 pm Mars that's great! They are very productive aren't they. They were finishing ours today, the guys said this arvo they should finish our frame by tomorrow. Bazinga we have organised our fireplace through JetMaster at Castle Hill. We chose the 550TRSI, here is a link http://www.jetmaster.com.au/product/gas ... o-550trsi/ We chose the square one because it creates better heating than the rectangle one. The rating for the ones we looked at were low, they are more for aesthetics than heating. I am too much a practical person. I think they look good. The square one will be a good fit for the position we are after. Jetmaster have a rep that liaises with the builder, the helped us supply all the specs to K and they are meeting our supervisor to install the fist part of the fireplace and the rest gets installed when we move in I think or when our appliances get installed. The sales people at Jetmaster helped a lot in deciding which way to go. You should go check out their studio in castle hill. Re: Building with Kurmond Homes 564Apr 07, 2014 9:59 pm Nice frames mars! Bazinga, we're building the aria 35.7 but with some modifications. Still looking over plans so quite a way to go. Re: Building with Kurmond Homes 565Apr 08, 2014 2:24 pm Sweet frames Mars!! that's a awesome looking fireplace Upsize. yeh i too am all for practicality. your going with the Logs or the pebbles? A rep that liaises that's handy, ill def give them a call. Aria is a great design too housesformouses. atleast its kinda stopped raining a bit ay guys! Re: Building with Kurmond Homes 566Apr 08, 2014 8:29 pm Frame officially completed today and bill received lol! We are going logs, love the look of a tradition fireplace. I think rocks can go out of style and the log layout looks great. Re: Building with Kurmond Homes 567Apr 09, 2014 9:54 am It's been a while since I've posted but we've been on holidays for the last month (wonderful timing) so lots of things have been happening: - The day before we went away Joanne from colours dedicated an entire day to finalising our colour pack. We did some last minute upgrades as well after reviewing it and got that sorted at the 11th hour! - A few days later final plans and a variation came through. That one hurt a bit. We had to enlarge a window, add extra insulation over the garage and the changes lend lease wanted costed a fair whack. I think it came to just under 2k. - We got the welcome to construction letter a few days later and excavation commenced. - Due to rain the piering kept getting delayed and shifted a bunch of times but finally had a clear day last Thursday. The total came to 4.6 lineal metres over the 50m allowance. We had budgeted for 30 over so that was a pleasant surprise. - Soil removal amount came out to 3 truck loads. We had 2 in the tender and Kurmond raised a variation for 1 extra after the site survey so no excess there. - The slab formwork has commenced and the slab is meant to be poured either on Friday or Monday. It's going to rain on Friday so I'm doubtful it'll happen then but fingers crossed for monday. - The frames will then be at least a week and a half later due to being booked out until then. And of course, photos: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Re: Building with Kurmond Homes 572Apr 10, 2014 6:53 pm Mars ya! It happens so quickly, very exciting Our bricks arrived today, both bricks our feature and main brick. Impressed again, definitely thought we would have an issue waiting for one or the other to be delivered from the different suppliers Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Fingers crossed they can start on time next week with all this rain??? Re: Building with Kurmond Homes 573Apr 10, 2014 6:59 pm Hey Mars, Looking good! Those windows are a great size Yep - is our pool! Whilst we were away my brother covered it up for me (Kurmonds requirements) but I was glad he did because he said that a lot of rubbish had been thrown into it and had to fish it out. In other news, the slab got poured today! Wasn't expecting it to be done today but there we have it: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ It was lightly raining at the time - unsure what this means for the slab though Re: Building with Kurmond Homes 574Apr 11, 2014 10:02 am mckz, I don't think light rain will have any impact on the slab. Luckily they poured the slab before the likely rain sets in for the next few days. It should be pretty dry after today. Upsize, looks like we can't really compare progress until the internals begin...our SS has advised that he's starting on the roof, gutter and fascia plus plumbing rough in next week. The bricks will likely be delivered the week after as there is a delay due to the rain. Its a good option to have. You're lucky to get your bricks so soon, however not sure if there are brick teams ready to commence. Bazinga, keep up dude! Re: Building with Kurmond Homes 575Apr 11, 2014 12:07 pm Hi All, my last post was August 2013. We are still building with Kurmond. We are due to start any day now - just waiting on bank letter of commencememt. We are up to Version O of the plans - no charges as most of the changes are their mistakes. A tip - read evry dimension and word of the plans. There will be changes from one version to the next expecially when moving from preliminary plans to final plans for approvals and then to construction - without you knowing. Colours was ok - be prepared for a long day. We have not gone for husge variations - mstly basic range - just upgraded a few things. We anticipated a couple of upgrades in the tender and had them included. Looking forward to starting very shortly. Cheers Re: Building with Kurmond Homes 576Apr 15, 2014 8:42 pm Bricks have started Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Exciting seeing it all come together, and we are only at the bricks. Depending on rain the scaffold will go up tomorrow. Was very impressed today she I pulled up to check progress and our supervisor was there with the construction manager checking the build progress. They checked that the frame was all in line and were marking any issues that they found. Good to see they get in early and check. Supervisor tried to tell me what they are checking and all the different checks that he'll do but the kids would stay quiet for me to take anything in. Drive you nuts wish they learn to read situations!!! What age does this kick in??? Re: Building with Kurmond Homes 579Apr 17, 2014 5:36 pm Ya Beanzy! It has begun. We had the scaffold up today. So already to continue bricks next week, weather permitting of course. Ask for references and speak to them. If they are defensive or try to avoid the request, walk. 1 74700 I would never build with Fowler homes. I built with them in 2021 and till date maintenance issues are pending.
